Squawkbox itself only kills my framerates when i have it inside the FS window(HostSB) but normally i use the exterior version(SBHost) and then it doesn't kill anything, xcept my flight once in a while... grrr ;)

Most users do not mention frame loss simply due to SB. Some users, including me, actually run SB on a second computer through WideFS. That used to be a big advantage when we were all running 300MHz computers but today there is really not that much advantage to be honest.Having said all of that, even with todays faster machines, you will see frame rates diminish as multiplayer traffic increases. That should be expected as it is the case with AI traffic. Also, having a proper configuration with the Squawkbox CSL aircraft directory will really help control the effect during on-line sessions where there is a lot of traffic. The reason is that the SB CSL aircraft, which you see other SB traffic textured as, are very simple shapes and textures compared to FS aircraft that you fly. Now none of that is solved by running SB on a second computer because the additional resource requirements to display the other traffic is within FS. All of this actually gets into a SB/Multiplayer lesson of sorts so I will stop here and hope this helps to round out the answers the other guys provided.
