June 17, 200322 yr Daryl Shuttleworth has been spreading rumours that RVSM is now valid over Canada. Flight tracker shows otherwise in terms of real world flights. Can anyone confirm this please?Maybe Daryl's fictional world has blurred the real one.Rob.
June 17, 200322 yr It's valid in Northern airspace (From 57* North) and certain FIRs FL290-410. For example all of Vancouver is RVSM Transition Area from 290 to 410 so they will sometimes use RVSM levels. Southern Canada is proposed in December 2004 according to the AIP.Regards,Graham

June 17, 200322 yr No no...au contraire mon ami...it's not ALL of Canada as you had implied Mr. Shuttleworth....according to our learned freind noted above, my neighbourhood is NOT RVSM.So there, ya **-ah.?? "..they will sometimes use RVSM..." I thought it was either RVSM or it ain't...but never a mixture thereof in the same airspace??
June 17, 200322 yr It's not RVSM, it's RVSM transition airspace. It's non exclusionary airspace and two RVSM certified a/c could be seperated by 1000 ft. but an RVSM and Non-RVSM or Non-RVSM and Non-RVSM aircraft would be seperated by 2000 ft if they weren't laterally separated. For example, aircraft departing Vancouver on routes to the Orient and Hawaii usually get RVSM levels while still in Vancouver airspace. I wish I had a scanner, it would be easier that way. ;-)

June 18, 200322 yr Well RVSM works well in Europe so the quicker its implemented all over North America the better!
June 18, 200322 yr Daryl/RobI have split my sides laughing this morning because of you two. And the flight plan on the other thread, (See Ya to Later) "CYAA ITOT ITAW AA PUDDY TATT L8TR" that I just noticed puts Daryl over the top.:-beerchug

June 18, 200322 yr Commercial Member >Tonight I will be exploring the SDRVSM areas of Canada. You're not allowed. Very exclusive area - you have to BELIEVE in it before you can fly in it. You also have to pet my jaguar and clean the riding mower.Them's the rules - I don't make them up, I just fabricate them.DS CVA3339 / UKD149http://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...tor=OD1&a=a.jpg The SUPPORT FORUM for Level-D Simulations products: http://www.leveldsim.com/forums
