CDU comes to life

Featured Replies

Inspired by Niko and Stephen Haas I have taken the first tentative steps to building myself a CDU for use with PIC.Purchased a 5" B&W TV for

Sounds interesting, I may try that myself. So you hooked it up using WideFS and transferred the FMC to the monitor?

No,used the TV Out socket of my video card. Then undocked the FMC Window, expanded the window and dragged it across to the TV monitor, so that only the CDU portion showed.Effectively it is a 2 monitor setup.

Neat, I may give that a go sometime.

Hi Mark,It's indeed a great experience to operate a real FMC keyboard and CDU. I look at my CDU much more often during the flight and learn a lot more about it's functions. The only problem ( ;-) ) being that you become to enthousiastic (like me) and try to build more hardware. It won't be long and I will have 144 hardware switches to operate.See some picture attached.Happy Flying!Nicowww.nicokaan.nl

Nico,Since the first time I clicked on a link to your website many moons ago I have been sure to come back and visit on a regular basis with much anticipation of seeing your latest screenshots. Thanks for sharing your dream of a cockpit and the amazing journey to get there with the rest of us. You are by far one of the people that make this newsgroup/community what it is today.Sincerely,Ian Elchitz CYWG

Ian,I am glad you like it. I strongly believe in sharing of information (at least with respect to a hobby ;-) ). Have learnt a lot from other guys in this forum. By the way, my website attracts visitors from all over the world, that is also an exciting experience. I plan to publish a list of the countries from which people have visited my site. You'll see that our PIC767 flightsim hobby is part of the global village!Do not forget to thank Stephan Haas as well. His enthousiasme and ideas have inspired me to continue!Regards,NicoEHAM

Mark, You say you ran the tv from the TV out on your graphics card, is this a second graphics card? I thought if you plugged into the TV out on a single graphics card it disabled the other output? If it doesnt then I can have my FMC ,ACARS etc on the portable TV by my computer!!!

I have been watching the evolution of this thing since you started. VERY nice Nico!Mike

looking great, really a nice looking setup there, I love how that all looks!!! both of the setups!
