July 29, 200322 yr "Sounds like the antarctic routes?"Could be :-)I thought these routes were uploaded via ACARS, though? (Surely the weather down there is too unpredictable to plan too far ahead?).Here's somewhere else you've probably never flown one of our 767's to...."ORDDTW001" (Chicago to Detroit).I can't even think why we'd have that in our database :(Cheers.Ian.
July 29, 200322 yr Ian, the later 767 databases (as you say OGF on) share various routes with the 747-400. I would imagine that LAXORD001 would have been loaded in preparation for the new QF93 service, with ORDDTW in as a diversion route. Either that or we're starting a multi sector U.S. trip on the 767 (wishfull thinking)!
July 29, 200322 yr So which pole is MPOLE?In FS I can't find SPOLE either, but NPOLE is there.Martin767 fetishistIt's a lot like life and that's what's appealing
July 31, 200322 yr "In FS I can't find SPOLE either, but NPOLE is there."South Magnetic Pole in our database, Martin ;-)Cheers.Ian.
July 31, 200322 yr "I would imagine that LAXORD001 would have been loaded in preparation for the new QF93 service, with ORDDTW in as a diversion route."Good thinking, thanks, Anthony :-)Cheers.Ian.P.S. I've noticed that a lot of our diversion routes don't have a complementary (return) route (i.e. there may not be a DTWORD001 route in the database). Seems odd.
July 31, 200322 yr Yeah, that's true of quite a lot of them. I would imagine it is presumed that in the air time constraints dictate a quick FMC route entry, whereas when the aircraft is on the ground at the diversion port there is plenty of time to manually enter the return routing. Just a thought again!
July 31, 200322 yr So SPOLE and MPOLE are the same? Or does SPOLE (and NPOLE?) refer to the true poles as opposed to the magnetic ones?I'm confused, but with the FS world effectively being a barrel it doesn't really matter, as you can't reach the poles (not sure if it's still a barrel in FS2004 though).Martin767 fetishistIt's a lot like life and that's what's appealing
August 1, 200322 yr "So SPOLE and MPOLE are the same?'I'll let the experts answer that one. Martin ;-)"Or does SPOLE (and NPOLE?) refer to the true poles as opposed to the magnetic ones?"Likewise!"...but with the FS world effectively being a barrel it doesn't really matter"Good to know. I used to worry about falling off the edges of the earth... now I only have to worry about falling into the earth :-) The world is my oyster.... to others, a (beer?) barrel.Chee...hic... eers.Ian.
August 1, 200322 yr >"...but with the FS world effectively being a barrel it>doesn't really matter">>Good to know. I used to worry about falling off the edges of>the earth... now I only have to worry about falling>into the earth :-) I checked this out yesterday and the North Pole is exactly like it was in FS2002: the scenery moves sideways up there! It's not possible to fall into the earth though, it's just easy to get disoriented. :-)Martin767 fetishistIt's a lot like life and that's what's appealing
August 4, 200322 yr Ian, I tried those Antartic routes in ZXF, what a blast!I noticed that MPOLE can be transposed to either the North or South pole in the route page. We had NPOLE in the database but no SPOLE.Bit of harmless fun.
