ZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz......Just kidding...very interesting pix. I always love to see new ones. :)

They let EAM fly over water???? :-) Maybe they will get more money for it from the insurance company than scrapping it ;-)Sorry, I missed your coming out ceremony :(Congratulations.Cheers.Ian.

Hmm..I wonder why the left engine bleed seems to be OFF, must be the photo though :)Teroedit: on a closer look, it seems that it really is off, because the other needle on duct pressure gauge seems to be indicating close to zero. Is this normal ?

PPL(A)

Tero, the bleed was on, a gentle 'Boeing' tap on the switch reilluminated the bulb. Duct pressure is equal on both sides, otherwise you'd see the pack off!

"So much for the high tech then, eh"The rectangular type annunciators are notoriously unreliable, Tero. The condensation build-up in that area often puts a non-conductive coating on most things behind the panel, including the bulb contacts. To make things worse, sometimes when you pull out the bezels to relamp them, they can fall apart in your hands. The heat from the incandescent bulbs weakens the plastic over time. I've heard that later generation aircraft will have LED's rather than bulbs, which should improve their reliability enormously. Most annunciators have two lamps (for redundancy). If one annunciator looks a little dim on one side, one of the lamps has most likely failed. However, we always change the lamps in pairs. In many cases, if we change only one lamp (after a great struggle), the other one will blow when we put the bezel back *:-* Todays trivia ;-)Cheers.Ian.P.S. (More trivia) Note that if you see the gear indicator lights only half illuminated, it doesn't necessarily mean that one of the bulbs has failed. In this rare case, each lamp has a separate power source. During Standby Power ops (no main bus power), the lamps will only be half illuminated.

"They let me out of the Country!"You know you've hit the dizzying heights when you get a Jakarta trip! ;-)

"You know you've hit the dizzying heights when you get a Jakarta trip! "If you're looking for somewhere interesting to go, next time you're on a -300 (post OGF?), guys, type in "PERPERC01" on the Co Route line ;-)There's also an airport with the ICAO code of "99SP" in the same area (roughly).Cheers.Ian.

All the joys of Jakarta without the slip....we wound up in Singapore.I'll be sure to try that Ian, is it going to hurt (sucker written all over me)?I snapped this as I walked past VH-OGB at the Jet Base this morning:http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid7...10/fb90dde4.jpg

"I'll be sure to try that Ian, is it going to hurt (sucker written all over me)?"Er... Just don't press that EXEC button in flight with LNAV engaged. If you find yourself south of Hobart, Tasmania, break out the cold weather survival gear and the ETOPS rules book ;-)SYDSYDP01 and MELMELC01 are similar routes.Have fun!Cheers.Ian.

Not sure exactly what you're talking about, but why not plug in a direct SPOLE? ;-)Martin767 fetishistIt's a lot like life and that's what's appealing

Sound like the antarctic routes? Now that'd be fun (not in a 767 perhaps...).

"but why not plug in a direct SPOLE"Oddly, our FMC database doesn't have SPOLE, Martin, but it does have "MPOLE" (M = Magnetic) as a waypoint.Databases are often unique to a particular airline. I'm told that there is a special section in the database disks for "Custom" airways and navaids.Cheers.Ian.
