August 28, 200322 yr Hello,I am a relatively experienced PIC user, but yesterday and today I run into a very strange problem.I was in a leg of my round-the-globe trip taking me from PHNL to RJBB when, approximately half way through the route I lost both EADI and EHSI displays.I switched the IRSs to ATT and diverted to PMDY trying to figure out what's wrong ( unsuccesfuly).Today I left PMDY for RJBB and, approximately 100Nm NW of the field I lost them again.Although all display is lost on both screens, the IRSs seem to be operating OK ( I get a correct present position, current winds etc).Even LNAV seems to work OK even though I get a FD flag on the EADI ( after switching IRS L to ATT and selecting that as an attitude source).E-HSI works after inserting current heading in the relative FMS page, with the exception of MAP display.i tried to "Repair malfunctions" from the relevant PIC menu, but I got a window saying all systems were operating fine on this flight.I have the option to repair failures in flight enabled.Any help will be greatly appreciatedBest regardsSpiros HazapisAthens, Greece
August 28, 200322 yr OK so do you also have failures checked? If so this maybe why you are loseing your displays.Brian
August 28, 200322 yr Hello Brian,Just checked it. Count down failures is checked, but every sub-category is set to "No Failure", so I guess nothing is enabled ( I never get failures anyway). Thanks,Spiros HazapisAthens, Greece
August 28, 200322 yr Commercial Member Sounds like the MS international dateline bug - all systems shutdown, then restart about 2 mins past dateline. Do a search of this and other forums - I think the fix is: keep flying, systems restore themselves.DS CVA3339 / UKD149System: Attlon 900 McW Hamster/Gerbilized Quantum Accessible 55Gig Iodized-Encrusted Four-poster with Mega-brill Farzenhuuven http://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...tor=OD1&a=a.jpg The SUPPORT FORUM for Level-D Simulations products: http://www.leveldsim.com/forums
August 30, 200322 yr Hello,Thank you for your replies. My guess is that it is a bug too. IRSs operate flawlessly, LNAV, VNAV, everything is OK ( I even added a holding pattern near RJBB and it was executed perfectly). It looks as if, in the real plane, the data bus conveying information from the IRSs to the displays is broken.Anyway, PHNL-RJBB is done now, with a bit of welcomed added excitement :-)BTW, over Japan, where there is an abundance of VOR and DME stations, I got three "IRS NAV ONLY" advisories. Is this normal ( given the current state of the system)?Best regardsSpiros HazapisAthens, Greece
August 30, 200322 yr Yeah, losing the instruments when crossing the Pacific is a known issue, but since they always come back a few minutes after you lose them its really not a problem at all. As for the IRS NAV ONLY messages, I get those fairly often regardless of the abundance of VORs in the area...usually after awhile the autotuning will kick back in.Ryan
August 30, 200322 yr Ryan,Actually they never did come back on during the six hour long flight from PMDY to RJBB.I admit I don't quite follow forum topics very often so I never heard about these problems over the Pacific.I will try to find relevant threads here.Thank you very much.Bst rgrdsSpiros HazapisAthens, Greece
