September 14, 200322 yr Hi Folks:As Ian indicated, I had some trouble with my f/p at the start of the Nairobi/Tel Aviv Fly In.He received the f/p, but only my callsign was there. The route did not show up. Eventually he had to enter the f/p for me, so that I could get on my way.I remembered that this was the second time that I had this difficulty and that both times, it had happened when I tried to file via the internet facility. It goes like this. I prepare my f/p, check it twice (:-)), and file it via the Internet. It comes back full of red letters telling me that there is an error (does not specify which one) and that the f/p was not filed. I check everything again (twice :-)) and try to re-file.....no joy...same problem and message :-(So....I give up, I log on, connect, and then file via SB. This time it only tells me that the f/p was filed...but the controller only receives gibberish.I imagine that the first f/p that I try to file via the Internet gets locked somewhere in the system and cannot be replaced by the new ones that I file :-hmmm Has anybody experienced this? Any comments or suggestions?Thx!Roberto Roberto Stopnicki Toronto, Canada
September 14, 200322 yr Roberto,One time I experienced the same problem (route details didn't make it to the controller), but without prior use of the internet facility. So I'm not sure if that is the problem. At that time it sounded more like a glitch.Kind regards,Stephan Haashttp://www.pic767flyingclub.com/images/sas544.jpg
September 14, 200322 yr Roberto are you using special character set on your computer?I saw this problem when using Hebrew (by mistake) on the website flightplan page, maybe that's the case at your side too?
September 14, 200322 yr Author Hi Ilan:No, none that I can remember. Just a simple "run of the mill" f/p.Roberto Roberto Stopnicki Toronto, Canada
September 14, 200322 yr I happened to be looking at the flight plans filed yesterday on ServInfo and I noticed you had the incorrect code for Jomo Kenyatta International. Instead of HKJK you had something like KHJK or JKHK.It was very noticeable because your distance to destination was much greater than the other plans.
September 14, 200322 yr Also if the f/p contains carriage returns (if for example the f/p is copied from a web page or program) in it that are not created by SB fpl route dialogue or the Internet flight planing dialogue ROUTE window, it will throw you an error message, and it's unable to process the route. One should always check that the carriage returns are only created by the window where the f/p is copied into, and this is easily checked by going to the end of a line and pressing DEL.Tero PPL(A)
September 14, 200322 yr Roberto,I have just spent 10 minutes searching for it but Richard Critz (I think) answered a similar question on a forum or newsgroup a short time ago.You are correct in thinking your flight plan gets locked for a while. If I remember correctly, you need to move your aircraft in order for the plan to "unlock" in the system. Then you should be able to refile in the normal fashion within SB. WARNING, this is what I "think", not what I "know".Mike
September 15, 200322 yr Author Hi Mike:I will search myself and also will try to contact Richard.I will post my "discoveries" here, for all to know.Thanks.Roberto Roberto Stopnicki Toronto, Canada
September 15, 200322 yr If you got red letters, you also got a list telling you what it didn't like.Be sure there are no non-printable characters and no colons in any of your fields.cz
September 15, 200322 yr Author Thx. Richard. You saved me the search :-)If my (failing) memory serves me right, it only said that it couldn't file the plan and that I should attempt again. Is there something about Mike's thoughts on "moving the a/c" if and when a server "locks" the f/p?Next time I'll write the red stuff down :-)....thanks againRoberto Roberto Stopnicki Toronto, Canada
September 15, 200322 yr Yes, the plan is locked. If you file via the web or ATC modifies your plan, you cannot change it from within SB.
September 15, 200322 yr Author Richard:Last question (promise!)That is great info. and very important to know, about a flight plan that gets locked if filed via the Web. Thx!!However, can I modify via the WEB a plan that was sent via the Web?(and that is that!! :-))Roberto Roberto Stopnicki Toronto, Canada
September 27, 200322 yr Yes, you can, as long as you haven't yet moved from the gate and ATC hasn't modified it. Once ATC modifies it, you can no longer change it. If further changes are required, it's up to ATC to make them after approving your request.cz
