Hello everyone,I'm relatively new to the PIC 767 "experience" (I've only been flying it for 6 months or so now), and I don't follow these forums, so I may have missed an earlier fix, but that's ok...I recently discovered the 767 Dispatcher v. 3.0, beta 9 (the current version to the best of my knowledge) add-on. I thought that it was a GREAT program, with a lot of potential. Unfourtanetly, the database updater didn't work for me... it gave me an error 1004 (running XP Home SP1, Excel XP). A quick search of the forums showed that at least a few others had this problem. Therefore, I decided to attempt to fix the glitch... Hours later, after picking through the code in Visual Basic (the comments & file names of which are written in 2 different languages, English and some other) I have come up with a version that seems to work fine, at least on my computer... Here are the changes:*Fixed the bug that cause Windows XP Home/Pro users (and possibly others as well; I don't know for sure) to get an error when clicking on the DB update buttons*Increased the DB's maximum number of runways to 40,000. The maximum number of airports is now 15,000. (These numbers can both be increased relatively easily if there is need to, however).*Updated the pre-installed database to AIRAC 0313 (valid until January 21st, 2003) PLEASE NOTE: This is ONLY runways and airports- the fix/navaid database is still the same as it was in v.3.0, beta 9 (0308 I believe).I've put my new file (which unfourtanetly grew in file size to a zipped 13.5 mb, just under 50 when unzipped; this is due to the many more airports & runways) together with a new readme in a zip file. This file is available at: http://www.angelfire.com/vt2/767disp1/767disp31.zip(On my computer at least, you have to right click & click "save target as")PLEASE NOTE: This is a free web hosting, so I only get 1 gb of Bandwidth every month. This means that I can only handle 74 downloads a month... this is obviously not a very good situation. I could open up another angelfire account, which is my short-term solution when/if the downloads exceed the limit, but it would be better if someone could donate some server space & bandwidth for this file... email me at [email protected]'s about it for now, I'll just close with saying that I do plan on continuing "support" of this project, and so will be working on adding a Navaid/Fix updater module, and any other feasible changes (within my VB knowledge) that users suggest...see the "Contact Info" section of my read me (3.1beta1read.txt) for more info.Enjoy!!!(edit to add: The bandwidth limit *may* be for a day, in which case this free hosting will work fine. I don't know at this point)

Hmmm...My server apparently isn't working, apparently because this is my second angelfire account with this email address (oops!)...Does anyone have some server space on which to host this??? I can post a temporary download link on my other server (but it doesn't have enough free space & bandwidth to support lots of downloads), so you don't have to give me FTP passwords or anything; you can just download the file (13.5 mb) & upload it yourself...Sorry for the inconviance!

Hi,I am just wondering, have you tried to get in touch with the author of the original Dispatcher. I believe it is Wagner B. Beskow . If you have not yet done so please do it. This will in my opinion solve two problems:1. The original file written by Wagner has some copyrights which preclude amending the original file without the author's written consent.2. If I remember correctly Wagner had a website to upload his program. I am sure that working in cooperation with him will also solve your server issue. Finally the convergence of two bright minds will certainly make improvements to the prgram easier and benefit all.Michael

I've been gone for a few days, but excellent ideas being brought up! I guess I just assumed that since the source code is just in Excel, and it was freeware, it wasn't really copyrighted, but I'll be sure to check with the Wagner & see if it's ok; it's not on the internet right now, so it shouldn't be violating any copyrights at the moment...Ilan- Are you getting in touch with Wagner?

Hello Ben,The last version(s) are actually mine - I continued Wagner Beskow's work, who in his time continued Rob Van Leest's original work. All credits are inside the readme and the spreadsheet and MUST be left there.I continued working on the the dispatcher, but due to lack of time lately and the news on 767 V2 I decided to wait a bit.I have no problem if you want to update or add some features - you can send it to me for web hosting, no problem with that.As the disclaimer says: no commercial use, no final release etc.Feel free to email me if you need anything else!Ilan JonasBTW - the remarks in VB codes are in Dutch (by Rob), Portuguese (Wagner) and Hebrew (Myself) - it was added automatically by M$ Excel, we tried to stick with English...

Hi Ben and Ilan,Great exchange of messages. It shows that civilized people with high standards of conviality can very easily sort out any issue. This is what keeps the freeware spirit going.I am glad you are talking together and look forward to any improvements to the already very useful dispatcher. Sure enough Ben's promised improvements are a great step in the right direction. Thanks to both of you. Michael

NP, I was just making sure that the email link worked as published...FWIW- There is another post stating that WSSS isn't found in the original version (it probably is due to the fact that the database is larger than the number of cells alotted to it, something I fixed in my patch). I just tried it in my version, and it's able to pull up the runways, and Singapore, but something's still not working right, so I'll look into it, and post the new version if I can fix the issue... (at the same URL as I emailed you).
