February 6, 200422 yr I hate posts like these, but I am stumped. Everything has been running fine for a long time. Now, everytime I start up FS2002 (no, not with a PIC plane active) and then switch to a PIC plane FS2002 crashes. Soecifically, the panel loads and then either either FS2002 closes immediately or it does so when I attempt to change the aircraft location either by selecting a flight or thru the FS menu.Other aircraft are not affected and run just fine. I cannot think of anything I have done to my setup recently...except I installed FSNavigator v4.6...but it is not active when the PIC quits. So I am open to any ideas...oops, I just thought of one more thing! I installed DirectX 9. I recall having seen some posts that this can be an unstable versuin...but why would it only interfere with PIC?Any assistance GREATLY appreciated.Roger Curtiss
February 6, 200422 yr Interesting, I am noticing an occasional lock up when fiddling with FS menus, a fairly recent problem since I installed Dx9....hmmm... System specs: Dual core E6300 (1.86g X 2), 2gb RAM, nvidea7800GT, Saitek yoke, CH throttle (6 lever), Soundblaster live.Add-ons: FSX: LDS767, FSL Concorde, FT E175/195, PMDG 747X/737X, Active Sky E, some freeware airports.Human specs: Desktop simulation since FS1, beta tester (LDS, FSL), 737NG simulator tech (Threshold Aviation), r sole+.
February 6, 200422 yr Are you running a VIA Northbridge chipset and an Nvidia graphics card? There is a definite problem with an infinite loop error that causes programs to hang. http://www.viaarena.com/?PageID=64 has details, but there is a lot of discussion in various hardware forums. Hope this isn't it, because there isn't much of a workaround (unless you load older detonator drivers).Geoff
February 7, 200422 yr Hi!I too have experienced this problem recently. My problem starts out with me closing a PIC panel, FS2002 locks up so I have to ctrl-alt delete to get out. Then on the following start up of FS2002 I get crashes right away. I thought it was FSNav as well so uninstalled that with no luck. (Tried both versions 4.51 and 4.60 neither changed my problem). I tried reinstalling the FS2002 PIC update patch and sure enough it fixed the problem. I can't figure out what started the process of file corruption. (if thats what occurred)I am running XP with DX9.0b as well. I haven't had any problems with any software that I could attribute to DX9 being a problem. When this occurred I was running FS2002 pretty lean as far as add-ons:PICFSUIPCWIDEFS (connecting FSMETEO from a second computer)FSNavFSGenesis landclassHope this helps... February 8, 200422 yr Author My problem appears to have been a bad default flight. I switched to another saved flight and now I am able to access all aircraft. Not sure why the one flight was messing things up...but as long as everything is working now I won't worry all that much about it.Roger
