Free Pic Editor?

Featured Replies

Hey everybody, I recently downloaded the Free Pic Editor... I figured out how to make my own STAR/SID/Approach files.... but first of all, for the latest version that I download, 2.3 I think, when I search the database for Navaids or waypoints... it doesn't search at all, the little searching... message doesn't even pop up.... but when I download the main version and try to save a procedure it gives me a message saying.. Cant Find PIC files or something and it quits out of the editor, I was wondering if anyone new how to fix this or where I could get an un-faulty version, as I would love to be able to just make my own procedures instead of having to hunt them down all over the internet.... cant seem to find any these days. Help would be much appreciated.Regards,TomE.T.O.P.S - Engines turning or people swimming.

Tom,I've had problems with the "latest" version as well but unfortunately I have been too stupid to actually email the author to let him know or get his assistance - probably a good place to start. As a side note - when I build my stuff I merely type in ALL of the waypoints I need into the FMC and save it as a route. Then I open the route in a text editor and just create all of the procedures I need - way faster than anything else I have ever used.Ian.

Hi guys,Yes, manually programming all the procedures definately beats using any kind of programme. You can modify the names of the waypoints any way you like and it also forces you studying the charts in detail so you'll learn lots of stuff at the same time. It's really not that difficult, the 767PIC manual explains it very well...Good luck and have fun! :)

Hi Tom:I've used Terry's program for a long time and find it extremely useful. Not sure why you're getting the errors you are but I do know that sometimes the updated NavData has errors that cause his program not to work properly.Definitely send Terry an email and be patient he will answer.

Hi allI use terrys prog..excellent, and I too have in the past had the same errors.I emailed Terry and he came back very promptly with suggestions and a fix (if my memory serves me correctly).Terry is very helpful and willing to assist where he can. Give him a try with an email.regardsRob GrantYMA002OPSMAN - Compass Airlines Australia
