Episode IV "A new hope"

Featured Replies

Well, I thought that I could borow the title since that's what the LevelD 767 is for me.A new hope to be able to have a great aircraft and fly it with my custom FS hardware. It may be a bit late, it may have been discussed a lot, but still the matter is not perfectly clear. The replies are rather diplomatic and I'm so confused.I only have two (2) wishes that I'd really like to see in LevelD 767.1. Option for an a/c without Virtual Cockpit. Personally I hate it due to the very pure instrument updating and display. I think that the VC concept will mature over the next two versions of FS. It's still in infantry.2. Ability to READ and WRITE to the appropriate variables to control the autopilot, EFIS, FMC via hardware like FSBUS, IOCards etc.Keyboard commands are clumsy, slow and you don't get a feedback. I want my MCP displays to be in sync with the panel and to do that my hardware will have to be able to fully communicate with the 767 (R + W ).So, to clear things up, please answer as clear as possible.Answers like "We can't tell you, it's top secret" or "We don't want our competitors to know before release" are understandable.Other than that, the planning and decisions must have been already made, if you are so close to completing the panel.I would like to know if I should spend more money on building a 737NG cockpit or wait until LvlD767 is out and change over to the 767 instead! Is there going to be native hardware support via FSUIPC (covering FSBUS, IOCards etc) ?Will we be able to read and write to certain offsets in order to read a value (i.e. MCP Altitude), or set a value (i.e. MCP SPEED) ?Will we be able to use a separate keyboard to control the FMC?Will the special function keys of the FMC be able to be mapped? Can it be a special key combination to turn FMC keyboard control on and off ?Will we be able to control the overhead via hardware as described above?Thank you for your time and I apologize for asking the same things again. It's just not clear enough.Best Regards,George DorkofikisAthens, Greece

Hi Gary,Thank you for informing us that the Level-D package will include a non VC model. I am very glad to here this. Now all I will need to do is incorporate the 2D cockpit views from PIC into Level-D when its released.Regards,Lee Holland.

>cant answer the rest tho>Gary Hayes>Level-D Simulations Development Team[/color]Being you a developer, i take you know.Since you don't tell, i assume one of these two applies:-final decision about generalized hardware support has still to be taken (possibly the code is ready)-this thing is SO BIG, you're keeping it quite until you're ready for the final announcement...I don't have to say i'd like no 2 to be true ;)

No I dont speak about them because thats not my area. Thats Wade and Laurents area. I deal with the model and bmps.Gary HayesLevel-D Simulations Development TeamNo im not a "real" pilot, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.P4 3.0ghz w/HT & FSB..GeForce FX 5900 ultra 256MB..1 gig PC3200 DDR RAM..Sound Blaster Audigy w/5.1 THX
