February 5, 200521 yr Hi All,I have read the ops manual abut IRU alignment times, but I have one question. Is it possible to extend the IRS alignment times for airfield that are over 70 Regards, Chris Willis, CVHK Line Pilot http://hk.vatsea.net/cpa/
February 5, 200521 yr Chris, regarding your first question. A (very) short explanation is that the IR establishes the level plane (North/East) and the direction to true north using your estimate of location, gravity and Earths rotation. One of the premises is that the only motion in space during alignment is caused by earth /Tord Hoppe, Sweden
February 6, 200521 yr " is the align time set through the IRU align switches on the overhead, or is this still an option on the option page on the FS taskbar?"The alignment time is dictated by the mode select switches on the real aircraft. In NAV, the alignement is always 10 minutes. In ALIGN, the length of the alignment period can be set by the pilot (anywhere from 10 minutes to.... pilot retirement). The longer it stays in ALIGN, the better the alignment... at least on the 767 and 744 (Don't try this on the 747 Classic).I'd say that this will eventually be implemented in LDS1.Cheers.Ian.
