February 5, 200521 yr Will the LDS767 have a company option to switch between a TRK up display on the EHSI and a HDG up display?Personally I prefer the HDG up display, though 767 operators seem to be split 50/50 as to what they choose to have. Thanks very much,Andy.
February 6, 200521 yr Hello,I very much prefer TRK UP as in LDS767. Why ? Mainly because it allows me to always see what my actual track in relation to earth is, independent of the wind. This is very useful when lining up the jet for a cross wind landing (by hand), because once you have established the center-line in a crab, you can adjust your heading from the TRK display to agree with runway course. Stops one from having to guess the needed crab angle. Of course, assuming the wind stays relatively steady in direction and amplitude.Tero PPL(A)
February 9, 200521 yr Indeed, instrument approaches make the TRK up method a useful feature, but to me a compass is supposed to tell you where you're looking (heading at 12 o'clock). The benefits of a TRK up display already exist in the HDG up display, as with the HDG up display you have a very useful white TRK line, displaced to the left or right of your heading depending on the drift. Most importantly IMO with HDG up the picture out of the window is the same as that on the EHSI. Better when looking for traffic on the EHSI TCAS, and aligning your sight to find the approach lights in low vis.It can be quite disorienting flying HDG up for ages then moving to a TRK up display. Thanks for the replies anyway. February 10, 200521 yr From the screenshots, it looks like a TRK UP display. I still agree that HDG UP is better, and gives a better perception of the aircaft's position related to its course, other other traffic, etc etc.
