February 9, 200521 yr I have no idea whether Microsoft is coming with FS2006 in August of 05 or not, but that's been the pattern for the last 6 years or so.Anyway, if they do, will there be a patch to make the LevelD 767 simulation compatible? I'm all for the design team taking their time to get things right, and I'm certain it will be an amazing sim, but it might affect my decision to purchase if I can't be sure that it will operate on the latest version of FS for more than 5 or 6 months. Not criticizing, just wondering... And I apologize in advance if it's been covered somewhere else and I didn't see it in my once-per-week scanning of thread topics.
February 9, 200521 yr In my opinion there will not be a FS10 in 05. Simply because they already came out with a patch for FS9 so it would be highly unlikely that they would do that and turn around and release FS10. I think if you buy leavel D's product IMO you would have a year or more to fly the 767 without needing a patch. regards Tony
February 9, 200521 yr Commercial Member I doubt they'll be able to comment right now since no one knows anything about what FS2006 will be, or if there's even going to be an FS2006 for that matter. (I personally think they may wait at least another year to do a real big upgrade to the engine) I'm sure if it's possible to do with relative ease they'll patch it like the original 767 was for FS2002. February 9, 200521 yr I'll stick for sure with my FS2004, if FS2006 is released and a patch is needed for the Level-D...No doubt. Best regards, Fritz ESSONO
February 10, 200521 yr "It will probably be released in 2008 if the current pattern persists" FS2000 was released at the end of July, 1999. FS2002 was scheduled for release in September, 2001 (in the USA) and was delayed until Oct. 2001 for reason's everyone should know about. FS2004 was released on July 28, 2003, again that's here in the USA. Micro$oft has a fulltime staff in the Flight Simulator group of about 80 person's, give or take the turnover, of which about 80% are programer's, coder's or artist's, the rest being admin support staff. In fact, I would not be suprised if an "Alpha" version of the next gen M$FS is not already out there some where. Micro$oft's NDA's are very strict and you can not even divulge that you are a beta tester or not to anyone. So if they stick to the same 2 year release schedule, it will be sometime later this year for the FS10/FS2006 product. And we all know how Micro$oft like to make money to pay for all those staff member's.So let's all hope that LDS767 beat's the M$ FS2006/FS10 by a few month's and I hope that both Micro$oft and LDS are sharp enough to make them work with each other for at least one product cycle upgrade.Steve Park
