FS2K2 lockups caused by HostSB?

Featured Replies

I am repeatedly experiencing FS2K2 lock-ups (requiring reboot) when flying on line. The crash happens when I am bringing up the squawkbox dialogue window from its minimised size to normal size by using the HostSB module. I reckon it happens about one in every 25 occasions that I restore the dialogue box from minimised. I suppose I could just leave the dialogue window in full view the whole time, but I do like the facility to hide the display when its not needed since most of the the time I am using voice, and so only require it for changing channels. When FS2K2 crashes, RW keeps working, so at least I can say good bye (!), but the computer will not respond to any keyboard inputs.I am running FS2K2pro under Win 98SE on an Athlon XP1600, kt266, GeForce 2 MX-400 64MB, 56 speed modem (cable), 256MB DDRAM, SBLive!, RW Mk 1.c_mod1, SB v2.3b with a FS2000 adventure running in the background. Thanks for any help on offer, and I would be interested to know if any other pilots experience a similar problem.Martin (UKD120)

I updated from my existing Nvidea 0776 drivers to the latest2942, and I've just had a problem free 1hr flight. I deliberately made more HostSB minimise/restore operations than ususal to try to induce the problem, but so far so good. :-))

I sometimes do have frequent lock-ups that do not seem to be reproducable. All I found out is that that they correspond to connecting to a server via SB-Host. I will then return to the FS window (fullscreen), do a few things that don't have anything to do with SB itself and FS will lock (unrecoverable). If it doesn't within the first five minutes, it won't throughout the rest of the session. It's irrelevant which server I choose. Everything runs stable as long as I do not connect to the server. The bad thing is, if it locks, the a/c-ID remains on the system for some time and I have to change the callsign the next time I try to get in.

I also had to unfortunately abandon Host SB and go back to the regular SB due to frequent freezes and crashes. Only happened with Host SB, otherwise SB works like a charm.FS2K2FSMETEOSBWinXPAthalon XP1600+512mb RAMGeForce 3 Ti400

Hostsb has never worked for me either. It crashes the sim immediately when I enable the module. However, with the latest version of servinfo I really don't care that much. I always fly using voice over RW and since I now can see the controllers and tune RW in the servinfo gauge window, I only turn to squawkbox for filing the flightplan and squawking Charlie!Unfortunately the atis function in the last update of servinfo doesn't work for me - I get no controller (message "no data" at all listed in the gauge window and therefore I'm sticking to 1.31 instead of 1.31a.Regards,Krister
