December 23, 200223 yr Let me start off by saying that I know nothing about the technology that makes SB and Multiplayer work but I do have a question..Is is possible (or will it be in the future) to combine SB Online play and AI traffic (like Project AI). Perhaps this could be done in such a way that on the individual user sees the AI traffic and VASIM runs per normal. Now there would have to be some mechanism to control the direction of TO and Landing, separation, etc. If this could be done it would make for an amazining experience.Just wondering....Mark. December 23, 200223 yr MSFS disables AI traffic when you create a multiplayer session. This is an FS issue, not an SB issue.
December 30, 200223 yr "Is is possible (or will it be in the future) to combine SB Online play and AI traffic (like Project AI)."Yes, it is.I do it myself, when the area I am flying to/from is not populated by other online pilots. To do that, all you have to do is not to enter a MultiPlayer session at the beginning, and then, when on the very first SB pop-up screen, to click on the "No Multiplayer" (or something similar) button. The ATC and the other online pilots will still be able to see you, but you will not be able to see them. You will be seeing your AI Trafic though. To see the other online players, you can only do it via your SB TCAS, where they will show up like normal. If you happen to fly into a busy area and wish to re-engage a MP session though, you must exit SB completely, i.e. not just "Disconnect" from your session, then enter a MultiPlayer session and then reload SB as usual and reconnect.Stamatis
January 2, 200323 yr Author Are you sure that the ATC can see you. I thought that the multiplayer connect is what give your information regarding location, speed, alt, etc. Without this how does that info get to the Vatsim network ?If this does work it is a great solution to those lonely flights where no traffic is within 40 miles of your location.Mark. January 3, 200323 yr Stamatis is correct (and is thinking outside the box). Running without multiplayer lets you use AI traffic. ATC (and others who ARE running multiplayer) will see you but you will not see other online pilots.cz
January 7, 200323 yr Author Wow, very cool! I just tried this and as you both said, I showed up on Wazzup/Server info per normal but only seeing AI traffic (although for some reason it did not move??).One downside is that I did not get any messages (green bar) and obviously the multiplayer text box is gone. I know you can still send messages directly from SB, however, you will need to run on a second monitor or computer to see the messages. Is this correct? What will adventure text display add here ?Mark. Mark CYYZ
January 8, 200323 yr Mark,If there are that many messages being relayed that are of interest to you, then you should be in Multiplayer mode to begin with. The whole point of not being in Multiplayer is exactly because there are no Controllers/pilots in your area when you decide to fly, and you wish to be in AI Traffic enviroment instead. What you should do is check occasionally for any new controllers/pilots coming online in your area, by:a) Using "ServInfo", or:( Using "Whazzup", orc) Opening up the ATC window inside SB and looking at the controllers onlineAlso note that when someone is contacting you via SB, a bell chimes. When you hear the chime, open your SB window and read the incoming message adressed to you.I hope the above answers your questions,Stamatis
