March 15, 200224 yr In regards to "" article:Great write-up Tom - I appreciate the time you took to lay down the smack so to speak. :-)What really impresses me is the bandwidth AVSIM has (and from the logs, evidently uses!) at its disposal. Care to ballpark a figure on how much such horrendous bandwidth costs you in a given period of time? I wonder for example how much the Airbus and/or Falcon 50 releases over the past week has cost in bandwidth charges to AVSIM. Or maybe a months worth of typical use for all of the services used here at AVSIM... I would hope that contributions to AVSIM would increase in direct proportion to the bandwidth you dish out to us all!Since AVSIM has been my "home" on the net for the past four years, I have a lot of gratitude for those who run the show behind the scenes - it has been nothing but a smooth ride in almost all circumstances from my perspective as an end-user. I thank you all for your high-paid work you do :-) and the commitment to quality you all share. Thanks again,http://members.rogers.com/eelvish/elrondlogo.gif[link:flightontario.cjb.net]http://members.rogers.com/eelvish/flyurl.gif
March 15, 200224 yr Elrond, I won't go into specifics, but our annualized monthly operating costs are approximately $3,000 a month (when you factor averaged costs of bandwidth, hardware acquisition, UNIX guru consultant, etc etc). Ardent is a great company and partner, and if you are thinking about doing colo, they are the ones to talk with!
