1) Do VATSIM controllers ever give a GPS approach clearance, or do you have to ask for it?2) Being an older IFR pilot and never having used GPS, do GPS approaches give a glide slope signal, or do you have to control your rate of descent manually? Thanks for your input.Dave Hinson

>1) Do VATSIM controllers ever give a GPS approach clearance,>or do you have to ask for it?Not unless the GPS approach is the only useable instrument approach for the weather observed at the time, which is VERY rarely.>2) Being an older IFR pilot and never having used GPS, do GPS>approaches give a glide slope signal, or do you have to>control your rate of descent manually?Think of it as a VOR approach but using the GPS. No glideslope information is provided.

>1) Do VATSIM controllers ever give a GPS approach clearance,>or do you have to ask for it?Feel free to ask for whatever approach type you want. Sometimes, I will request an ILS with an engine out practice. Gives the controllers something to think about (my speed and any spacing additions as a result of the slower speed).
