June 26, 200421 yr I got the survey e-mail but am a little confused. I always thought a newsgroup and forum were the same thing. Can you clarify? thanks Mark CYYZ
June 26, 200421 yr There is no or almost no control possible with newsgroups, anyone can just post whatever he/she likes, without even be obliged to put a name or valid e-mail, with all the consequences this brings. Forums can be moderated, and access can be controlled. Furthermore, forums are better organised, I find. What I like with newsgroups, is that you can very easily scroll through the messages. This is less the case in forums. Well, one can't have it all...Regards,Xavier
June 30, 200421 yr Author Thanks for the clarification, time to go and vote then. My preference, by the way, would be forums, but Vatsim needs a few of them. One for technical issues related to connections, sb, etc. and another for procedure and flying questions. I think it would also help to have only one location for the forum. The Vatsim forum/newsgroup on the vatsim site is very poor in terms of the structure and look.Mark. Mark CYYZ
July 1, 200421 yr Was this survey from Vatsim? or on of the divisons? I don't remember getting one from Vatsim but Vatcan did do one before chirstmas, as they were using a yahoo news group and a lot of ISPs were blocking the messages thinking it was SPAM. So they went to a web forum, its much better.
July 1, 200421 yr Yes,This was a notam sent out by Vatsim. If you didn't get it, either your address is different than what's on file, or anti-spam software nailed it.Marv
