Proj Mag LCDs

I am thinking of jumping back into desktop cockpit building, and I am curious - Does anyone run Project Magenta displays through a *TV*-style monitor? I am looking into some display units from Parts Express (link : http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cf...ID=16107&DID=7) and they accept "video in" signals. I know that video is not as good as VGA, but I can't find any VGA-compatable displays that would fit my budget.Do the PM displays look very degraded? Does anyone have experience with this? Thanks for any input...-Greg

I've found they work quite well, and most of the clarity depends on the VGA to NTSC conversion. I've had trouble with the video cards that have a TV Out, because the pictures on the LCD video panel always seem to roll, like the Vertical sync is out or something and I haven't found a way yet to cure that.I have 2 LCD monitors in the mail to me as I some blew up the one I had for so long... :-) I'll let you know how it goes~

The monitors are in, and here's my report:It turns out that these video cards with a TV-Out jack are more of a pain than they are worth.I sugggest saving your money, buy just a cheesy VGA card knockoff, then put the savings towards a high-quality VGA-NTSC external converter.I'm just using a cheesy VGA-NTSC converter and getting much better results than with a VGA card with a TV-Out jack.I am planning on getting the TVator Remote II from www.PCConnection.com

So no holy grail, eh? No square LCD's?There just has to be a source for those things.....they exist for Boeing ! I remember reading something about a company that would cut down a rectangular laptop type screen to the size you needed?Steve

Ray,Have you expermented with any 5" TFT LCD screens for use with the CDU? If so, I'd love to hear your findings pro and con. Thanks,Michael

You have likely already seen this site, but on the off chance that it's new to you... check out http://pookieweb.dyndns.org:61127/lcd.htm Mikewww.mikesflightdeck.com
