October 16, 200223 yr I am totally new to this electronic stuff and have a vague underdstanding of it.. I currently have the PFC Airliner Yoke/Rudder, Throttle Quadrant, and getting the Avionics at the end of the year.. I like flying all types of aircraft so I just want something that cover everything.... What I want to do though is have a way to turn on my lights etc, and perhaps my engine starts on a board and run it through keyboard emulation. My question then is... from looking at the schematics available, the momentary push is by far the cheapest way to do it.. I'd personally like to go toggle switch route, but once I add in the price of relays, transistors and such, the price starts adding up when you are doing 12 switches. So I figured I'd just go with momentary system.. I'd like to know though, is there a way to have an LED light stay on when the button has been pressed? So when I hit the landing light button, the LED stays illuminated until I hit the button again and turn it off? I can't find anything like this around except on a toggle switch system. Thanks in advance,Chris
October 16, 200223 yr Hi Chris,There is a sync problem with LEDs if they're just tied to the switch. Unless the LED "knows" about the state of the switch in the sim, it may end up off when it should be on and vice versa (requiring you to hit the key on the keyboard to resync). If your budget allows, you could get the GoFlight GF-T8 (toggles with LEDs) or GF-P8 (push buttons with LEDs). Both communicate with the sim so the LEDs (and the state of the toggles, on the T8) will stay synced.Otherwise, going the DIY route, you'll either have to make a circuit to hold the LED's state (divide by 2 counter using D or JK flip flops so that every other press of the button turns the LED on), or drive the LED yourself using the parallel/serial port based on the state of the sim which you can get via Peter Dowson's FSUIPC module for FS.Peter http://bfu.avsim.net/sigpics/PeterR.gifBFU Forums Moderator

http://bfu.avsim.net/sigpics/logo75t.gifBush Flying Unlimited"At home in the wild"Looking for adventure? October 16, 200223 yr If use use a hagstrom KB emulator, you can use toggles. You can even program different responses for make and break. But, even toughg you can go with lights, you don't need them with toggles, as if it's up, it's on. I've done this with a Hagstrom KE72 and some Radio shack switches, (and some stuff off ebay) See the GA twin thread for pics. If you need any more info, let me know....--jeff
October 16, 200223 yr Chris,How you keep a light illuminated depends upon other choices that you make. You might have the light controlled by software, or it might be directly controlled by the action of a switch. There have been a couple of threads here over the past several months that discussed this topic. You might want to scan the old entries in this forum and see if something appeals to you.Have you made any decisions about how you will connect your switches to the simuation? EPIC, Hagstrom keyboard emulator, hacking a keyboard, 747MCP? Mikewww.mikesflightdeck.com
October 24, 200223 yr Chris,I too wanted LED lights used but reading the info on Robert Prathers Website he didnt recomend it using the keyboard interface to light up the LED.Instead run your own power for the light using a switch.I used a switch on my landing gear lever to activate my 3 leds when my gear is in the down position and they go out when the gear lever is thrown to raise.Check out his sight ,its very informative on how its done!Regards,Lineman55
