Mission Accomplished - Cockpit Done

Hi All,Well, my design worked. Minor modifications, but not bad for a first try.Goals:1) Rudder Pedals always slipping on floor.2) Desk did not have straight edge, yoke always slipping, even with using sticky tak on bottom.3) Had to work for me and my two sons, 8 & 11.4) Tried to get realistic distance while sitting with relation to yoke and pedals compared to the 172's I fly.5) Total Cost $12.47 Home Depot. :-)This is the closest I have felt while simming to real flying. The pedals and rudder always stay in the same place. The Rudder Pedal Box is key, IMHO. It has no bottom, and keeps the pedals and yoke in the same lines, and always at the same angle. (I have a tight fit for this.) Also ALWAYS PRE-DRILL YOur holes to prevent splitting. In The pics, you will see how I also moved the keyboard over so that it is closer. I didn't intend this, but it works great. For The Yoke, You need at least 1". I have 1.5", So I glued 2 pieces together, and then 4 bolts. The two bolts in front, are spaced so as not to interfere with the yoke.Only Thing left is to Sand it, and Paint it, but I have plenty of time for that later on. :-)Here is the Material List.Wood Screws 10 x 1"4 Bolts 2" 4 washers4 Nuts1 1x4x6 Used for Rudder Pedal Box. Ripped in 1/2, and predrill the holes.1 2x4x6 Used for Brace, Column, and counter weight in back.1 1x12x4$12.47 Out The Door. very affordable. Total Project Time, about 4 Hours. I hope someone else is able to use this design as I have not seen anything similar to it out there. The Pedal Box seems pretty unique and ties in the system. So, Tell me what you think.Regards,Joe :-waveOriginal Design ;-)http://home.attbi.com/~jranos/cockpit1.jpg.http://home.attbi.com/~jranos/cockpit2.jpg.http://home.attbi.com/~jranos/cockpit3.jpg.http://home.attbi.com/~jranos/cockpit4.jpg.http://home.attbi.com/~jranos/cockpit5.jpg.http://home.attbi.com/~jranos/cockpit6.jpg.http://home.attbi.com/~jranos/cockpit7.jpg

Hi Joe and sons,Great design. It also makes it easy to store the whole thing away when you want your PC for paying bills, etc.If I may suggest. Add a parallel 100K pot with a knob and a toggle switch to replace the rudder pedals whenever you feel tired of sitig in front of your screen (like in longer flights). I found this very useful.A question, what is the second joystick for?Seev
