Anyway >>it just sounds to complicated to continue No, it's really very, very easy.Buy a router - you can get a five port router for just a few quid.Unplug the cable from your PC from the cable modem, and plug it into the router.Plug one end of a cable into another port on the router, and the other into your cable modem.Plug one end of a cable into another port on the router, and the other into your laptop.Wiring is done ! There'll be a little - easy - software configuration, but you'll need to do that even if you just directly connect the PC and laptop (And if you do that, you'll need to reconfigure every time you switch your PC between being connected to the cable modem and being connected to your laptop)Richard
