Mini ITX

Featured Replies

Has anybody used Mini ITX before? Seems to be a perfect solution for running CDUs and other applications with somewhat low processor requirements. Everything is on-board, including RCA and s-video outputs. It's only like 7" in diameter and a few inches thick.http://www.mini-itx.com/Roberthttp://www.ProMFD.cjb.nethttp://www.777Project.cjb.net

How much are those they could be really useful even for running other stuff like Magenta.Take care.Roberto

I couldn't get an exact price. Supposedly, they are kinda pick-and-choose. You buy a motherboard (90% of the stuff already on it), then you buy a case and a power supply. That's what I've gotten from reading. There is a store here that sells them, so I will check with them.Roberthttp://www.777Project.cjb.nethttp://www.ProMFD.cjb.net

Hi Robert,Every time I go to the local computer store they have one or two of the bookshelf machines on the counter. http://www.ncalcomputers.com/products/desktops/shuttle/ I look at them longingly, my hand holding the credit card begins to shake, then I remember I still need to pay the mortgage and feed the family. Sigh!Mikewww.mikesflightdeck.com

Hi Robert,Yes, I use a 500MHZ fanlesss VIA Eden mini-itx as (512Mb/133) second PC in my simulator. It runs Wideclient, SquawkBox, Roger Wilco, AIBridge, ServInfo and FSBuild. When I am not flying it's my mail and web browse PC.It's small and extremely quit. It runs for about 8 months now, without any problems. For more specs look at my web site, flightsim, hardware.I would say it's powerfull enough for 2D applications, like the ones you mention. There is also a 600MHz fanless 266DDR version, or a 1GHz version, but then you need a fan, and also the price is higher. The 500MHZ Eden is very cheap, in my country it costs 109 Euro. Add 90 Euro for 512Mb memory, 55 Euro for a harddisk and 55 Euro for a 90Watt powersupply and you're in business (1 Euro = 1,13 USD). Kind RegardsNicowww.nicokaan.nl
