Virus warning.....

Try out Tiny Personal Firewall. I used Zonealarm for a long time until I found this one. In fact, it was recommended to me by someone on these Forums. Sorry, I forget who.http://download.com.com/3000-2092-6313778.html?legacy=cnetIt's small enough to fit on a floppy disk, but does a good job.

I'm no longer using Outlook for emailing.Remember, most of those email viruses are written for Outlook/Outlook Express and can't function if you use another program.

And THAT is some of the best advice that there is, although I've pretty much given up advising people to do that. They simply don't want to. Fine with me if they want to use something that continually needs patching. Also, NOT having an address book with that e-mail client helps also, unless one wants viruses sent out to all of their contacts if they are ever hit with one. What are you using, JimmiG?

Edam, I'm currently checking out both the mail client in Mozilla, and the Eudora program. Still have not decided which one to use.I'm sure there are security holes in other email clients, but since most people use Outlook, most viruses are made for that program. So as long as most people stick with Outlook Express I'm happy :)

>Lately I've gotten quite a few emails from simmers that I >don't know... I'm glad I never opened them. They had fairly >large attatchments with them, too. The subjects were stuff >like "An FS Present for KG" & stuff like that. That subject sounds alarmingly like the subject which Anniette had on her virus email. If you still have the email about, could you forward it to me, headers and all?Thanks,--M

Well, I just got popped real good last week...had to reformat and still don't have FS2k2 onboard. What was strange, Norton wouldn't even run long enough to find a virus...it was recommended to try the fixklez file...that didn't work...my system kept locking up...more and more files were disapppearing or becoming corrupted...Outlook Express would not even open....This all happened after I installed EMMA Field by Lago...not sure if that had a virus attached or what...I'll find out soon :)...but fs2k2 started locking up, then all was downhill from there...it may have been just a coincidence. What is a recommended alternative to Outlook Express ??? I don't want to pay for an email reader.
