October 5, 200322 yr Welcome Vince,You have several options for creating the scenery display (I think that's what you're asking). The easiest big picture approach is to use a projector. Other options include use of multiple monitors and linked computers and software called WidevieW, use of a Fresnel lens in front of a standard monitor, or just using the largest monitor you can afford. For an overview of display options take a look at http://www.mikesflightdeck.com/scenery_display_1.htm As for what plane to model your sim after, well that really depends on your own preferences, and realistically, how much time and money you can put toward your project.Mikewww.mikesflightdeck.com
October 6, 200322 yr Hi,almost all the future-home cockpit builders, we have the same dilemma: Which aircraft Boeing or Airbus? Which type of each? 733, 767, 747, 320, 330????As you already have choose the Boeing company, you have to think, what kind of flights you prefer and you make already. How much time you have for your flights? The B747-400 is really an amazing and exciting aircraft for long range flights, so will not use it for a short domestic flight. The 767 may be also a long/medium range aircraft and has some limits for runway length. The 737 is not for Cross Atlantinc flights of course, but you can use it 24hours/day for medium international and almost all the domestic flights, except STOL airports. So, even if i love the 767-400 i finally choose the 737-700, as it was the best choice for me for flights in Europe and Middle east, or for domestic flights in many many Greek airports. The summer time is wonderful to flight from/to islands and enjoy the sunset approaching the Sontorini's or Mikono's airports! The final choice is yours and you may think many other details about the room-space, the h/w configuration etc.Good luck!!Eddie ArmaosAthens-Greece
October 6, 200322 yr If this is your first simpit, you might also consider not going with an airliner at all to start with. I'm currently working on a GA pit as my first - a generic Cessna type pit, with the capability to be used for a high performance / complex plane now, but prewired to be able to be mdified to a twin engine easily. A LOT less effort than something like a 737, especially as a first try.Rickps...... carefull with hobby knives when working. I was in the ER till 3am today after an Xacto sliped and I laid my thigh open to the meat
