LPT-switch v2.0 "Reloaded"

Aha, thanks for the heads-up :)Thought it might have been that simple, although I suspect the checking algorithms must be a pain to code :(

Point you forgot to make with the dual-windows setup is that to get an efficient set-up you need to different architectures - One windows 95 based and one windows nt based. 95/98/ME are 95 based, and NT/2000(ie NT5) and XP are NT based. You can try two 95 based set-ups but you may well run into problems if installed on the same drive, in fact the second install will probably over-write the boot sector unless you have a boot manager!

used to be ;)in v1.0 to 1.3 I had a very very long list of"if then else endif""if then else endif""if then else endif""if then else endif"...this time I managed something different.it's like most things in life .. it looks difficult but once you get to it, it's rather simple :(

Just one question about your design instructions...If this goes to a LPT port, surely the plug should be a female plug as the LPT port on the motherboard is of the male type? I assume we are talking about the parallel printer port as opposed to the COM ports? If so, I'd like to know how you intend to create 3 lots of LPT connections assuming they all go to the same PC?I'm now thoroughly confused! Maybe it was my doing, or maybe the coffee did it!

quite simple realythere is usually only 1 LPT parallel port on your motherboard but you can add PCI cards with an LPT port on it.they are not that expencive.

There go all my PCI slots then! :(

thanks philippeI will try lpt switch firtst, as I said it's a great project, it allows using your keyboard while playing and it handle normal switches without the need to hack them to make them temporary.I hope you will make that update avaiable for the time I finish the lpt switch (just befor xmas I think) so that I can test it with rotary switches.bye!

hey look on the bright side ;)new pc's often have lan on board, sound on board and sometimes graphics on board (though that is agp and you'd want to change to another card anyway .. unless you cant like in my laptop here :( )so as to my own P4 i got here ... the only PCI slot taken right now is an extra graphic card to be able to show 2 monitors in my cockpit. the other ... 3 are free for me.

it doesn't look super for you pall ... :si got exams right after new year so i'll be buzzy with the study the next 2 months :sso soonest i can look into this is early febr.

Alright if you have a new PC, but as for me, I have several, and the one that's going to be used with the LPT stuff already has a network card, sound card, PCI and AGP card already, and quite frankly it's a small board! The other PCI slot window is being used by the USB ports, so unless I find another hole for that I'm stuffed :(

Heh, who needs exams when you've got a sim :(Err, oh, yeah..... Some of us need the qualifications :(Not me, I'm too old! Plus I work for a company specialising in sims anyway, but we use custom super duper expensive stuff I can't use :( All custom made!

thanks philippeI will wait.byep.s.Are you sure 40 diodes are really needed? cant five be enough?

>p.s.>Are you sure 40 diodes are really needed? cant five be>enough?I mean 8.

i think not but just make me a diagram and mail it to me, i'll check your view [email protected]

I think what he means that instead of having diodes on the end of each group of 8 wires, why not join the 8 ends up and put 1 single diode on the end of that? If the ends of the 8 diodes are connected anyway, this should work as only one diode at a time is being used if I worked it out correctly
