December 4, 200322 yr >Mark,>>Know exactly what you mean...I have the CH yoke, and pedals>for some time and that has always been my gripe.>Plastics has it's rightful place, but I feel that a good solid>"feel" is what was always missing.>>>regards,>>Ken>www.DakenSkys.comAlthough replacing the CH yoke's wheel wiht a more solid one doesnt sound like it will change the feel that much - the movement and forces to move the yoke are even more important than the actual grip.A CH yoke and a real airliner yoke are, could we say, from slightly different leagues.. :)But it is not that hard to do a floor-standing yoke with heavy springs to dampen it - there's just the problem that when you go that route, your sim needs to have a floor and a seat so things stay solid in place.Tuomas
December 4, 200322 yr Toumas,I am in the process of getting my PPL revalidated - not flown for over 1 year. Also took this at pic at work - the CH Yoke does feel crap in comparison but considering the PFC yoke is 4-5 times the price.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/51392.jpg
December 4, 200322 yr >Also took this at pic at work - the CH Yoke does feel crap in>comparison but considering the PFC yoke is 4-5 times the>price.Nice workplace :-)The PFC is not the only possibility, it is fairly possible to build a yoke from parts you can find in a hardware store. The handle is the most challenging part, but not impossible either.See for example Norbert's site, his yoke looks very nice.Tuomas
December 4, 200322 yr Unfortunately It's on the ground I work.Yeah I have seen Norbert's site. Real good work there.
December 5, 200322 yr Hi KenLove what you guys are working on at the moment, and as I said quite a bit to drool over. I'm still debating whether to build my own or buy, but with the work I'll need to do on everything else I'm inclining to buy. Now that you've peaked my interest I'll be watching Dakenskys very intensively now.ZK-SHB
December 6, 200322 yr OK guys, I just met Ken in person. He is down visiting his mother who lives 10 minutes away from me here in Boca Raton. I emailed him yesterday when I saw his site and his parts and after a little conversation he told me he was coming to Florida to see his mother. He brought some panels with him, and they are the real deal man!!!! I would be watching this guy because he is a professional toy maker and really knows the ins and outs of making things look and function realistically. He has some real surprises and low prices that will turn this hobby on its head!!! I can
December 7, 200322 yr Hi guys,I've been reading alot of your helpful information over the past couple of months and I have already started building my Overhead Panels for my 737-800. I hope to post some pics over the next few days. I've got alot of friends in the aviation industry and they've been nothing but great help. I'm even using genuine Dzus fastners on my panels. My issue is, alot of the electronics I need, come from the US but its almost impossible to know what I'm buying. If I already haven't mentioned, I'm based in Newcastle, Australia. Just north of Sydney. You guys have been mentioning using CH Yokes and I've been wondering how much you guys buy them over there and are they really good quality and a good feel? The only place we can buy them over here is from a mail order company here in Melbourne for around $349.Would someone greatly assist me looking into something like this?Kind Regards,
December 7, 200322 yr Hi BradYou could try http://www.simhardware.com/index.htmlfor the electronics, they're based in Christchurch NZ and have built a 767 simulator which the training school down there uses. They are only just going commercial now and with your dollar being quite favorable against ours you may be pleasently surprised.ZK-SHB
