December 3, 200322 yr Does anyone know where I could find some good measurements/ plans of the 737 yokes? Preferably something in 1:1 or half scale. Is this something worth building myself or are the commercial products the way to go?ZK-SHB
December 3, 200322 yr check this site: http://www.dutch-mountains.comand maybe contact the guy.cheers
December 3, 200322 yr Also have a look at the future page of Daken-Skys www.dakenskys.comWell worth waiting for!CheersGaz
December 3, 200322 yr This is useful too - although not exactly 737. But a good reference. http://www.mason-electric.com/ and especiallyhttp://www.mason-electric.com/Catalog/wheel.pdfYet another quality link served from www.mikesflightdeck.com :-)Tuomas
December 4, 200322 yr HaHaI've already been drooling there! It'll be interesting what sort of pricing they will be, as the New Zealand Dollar- US Dollar exchange rate isn't the best for importing stuff at the moment.Looks good tho.ZK-SHB

Expensive for sure. But the cool thing is the 3-way CAD drawings on the catalog - enlarge them a bit and you can get pretty nice plans for a yoke if you make one from metal tubing - bend to shape, attach pieces of metal profile or small metal boxes for switches and stuff, and use epoxy putty and filler to add the rest of the shape to make it look like a yoke.. Or just cut the shape from laminated wood or such. It's nice that they share the dimensions, helps a lot of one wants to make a yoke, plus it gives you good study material on the sizes and angles of the grips etc..Tuomas
December 4, 200322 yr Hi TuomasHave had a good look at the Dakenskys site couldn't see the catalog, looks like it may have been updated recently. Just my luck!ZK-SHB
December 4, 200322 yr Tuomas was refering to the mason site. They show that type of info for the yokes. The exchange rate is a problem for us southerners but From the contact Ive had with Ken I think everyone will be pleasantly surprised. Anyone wishing to purchase panels or flight controls my advice to you is wait!Gary

Very likely, even having someone construct it for you according to the plans from metal tubing and such will be cheaper than real, new, certified aircraft parts. A scrapyard hunt could result in a cheap yoke of course, but I think many people have started to ask for bigger prices as more people request parts for home simulator use.Tuomas
December 4, 200322 yr Hi All...The yoke we are currently working on is an exact replica of the type used in a 727, 737 and 747 aircraft. The only slight differences can be found in the AP disconnect switch and the thumbwheels which are simply plugged for the later models. Included will also be the full column and other accessories. Our pricing, when we are ready will be a pleasant surprise for all and will NOT be the typical expensive variety, although our workmanship will be top quality. We are still a little behind in our schedule for this item as a new development on our panels has come up that is very exciting and is taking the forefront in our R&D area now. For those of you who want to press ahead and make your own...I would be happy to post some pictures with a ruler in the shot or provide some dimensions for any specific requests.Best regards,Kenwww.DakenSkys.com
December 4, 200322 yr Ken,what would be really good and possibly attract a lot of business would be a 737/747 replica that users could replace the plastic Yoke on their CH Yoke with.
December 4, 200322 yr Hi Mark,Funny you should ask...We're already looking into that as an option!Thanks.Kenwww.DakenSkys.com
December 4, 200322 yr If the price is right, I am definitely interested in this option.Would be way cool to have a more realistic feel than the plastic CH yoke.
December 4, 200322 yr Mark,Know exactly what you mean...I have the CH yoke, and pedals for some time and that has always been my gripe.Plastics has it's rightful place, but I feel that a good solid "feel" is what was always missing.regards,Kenwww.DakenSkys.com
