December 7, 200322 yr I have no knowledge what so ever about electronics. Judging by various screen shots and forum topics about backlighting, the way to go is with white LEDs.I had no idea where to start but the following website came to my rescue. I thought I would share it with those people who also need some simple information/instructions.Regards,Darren SugdenP.S. Building an A320 cockpit with the Elite panels from cockpitsolutions. I must say I am extreemly impressed both with the quality of the product and the great support shown by Peter Cos.The website is:http://www.white-leds.co.uk/led-wiring-guide.htm
December 8, 200322 yr Thanks for thinking of us. It is a good site. I don't do this often, so I never remember Ohms law. Each time I want to use it, I have to look it up.Only one problem. It is a British. site. Here in America, we will have to convert from British volts and ohms to US values. ;-) John JohnMy first SIM was a Link Trainer. December 8, 200322 yr Hi Darren and everyone else. You might find this interesting (I did).A swiss company called lumitec (http://www.lumitc.ch) produces something they call "Smart Surface Technology". I think it is also called biopolymers (a guess). It produces quite an astonishing look and feel, compared to 'normal' backlighting in homebuilt/commercial cockpits. It was Okan Sacli (A320 builder) who showed me some photos of his setup that got me interested. You can see some images on his website http://www.a320project.ch/ELF.htmYou can buy a sheet A3 (11.7 by 16.5 inches) for 170 swiss francs(app. $131) of A5 (1/4 of A3) for 75 swiss francs (app $58). This can be cut out to match the backside off for example the EFIS and attached to th ebackside, then supplied with a special 'driver hardware' and 9 volts you get perfect backlighting evenly distributed on the entire surface. I couldn't find their pricelist online, but I had i locally, so I made a html for you to view: http://www.vrmedialab.dk/~peters/lumitecprice.htmlI hope this info is usable to some of you guys, even though it is a bit more expensive than standard LED backlighting.Best regardsPeter
