PMDG and Project Magenta

Featured Replies

Hi all, hope you had a great X-mas.At the cost of repeating this topic, I wanted to check if there was anyone who tried to have an environment add-on like PMDG 737TNG work together with Project Magenta to provide a complete cockpit as well as a working jet environment?I tried searching for PMDG support for FSUIPC offsets, but they seem to be lacking there. PM systems may be an answer, but based on the reviews that I seem to be hearing about PMDG 737TNG SV2, it seems just worth to investigate this option. My idea is to have the basic 737 environment set up through PMDG and have FSBUS control the simpit through Project Magenta. Obvious conflicts are in the autopilot etc, and issues with how to wire the overhead panel so that it's compatible with PMDG and PM at the same time...Any suggestions?Rahul SharmaNew Delhi, India.

Hey there Rahul,I am a 737 builder aswell. I've been trying to setup PMDG's 737 for a home cockpit as well. Unfortunately due to the way PMDG has programmed their aircraft, it works independantly from the MSFS system hence the FSUIPC commands won't work with it either.Currently PMDG have an SDK (Software Developement Kit) under Beta testing that will allow programmers like Pete Dowson (FSUIPC) to add some of the commands to their programs. To this date you cannot use these functions, its a matter of waiting and seeing what happens!Kind Regards.

Brad,So what all can you control from FSBUS in your 737TNG? Are you also able to undock/segregate the PFD/ND displays or not?I am trying to investigate the option of using FSInterrogate to see if some offsets can be figured out in the 737TNg...Cheers,Rahul.New Delhi, India

Yes, the windows are undockable. Will be interested in hearing if you can find some offsets!Brad.

PMDG as you said, is using a custom made Autopilot and not the default one from FS.Now, you can assign keyboard commands for the MCP and the EFIS and nothing else at the moment. So using Fsbus, or a Keyboard encoder you can control the Autopilot by emulating keyboard. The SDK will be something else, not a ready to run program. Propably you will need to know about programming to write special s/w to control the PMDG's 737 and also the electronics. Companies like MCP747, or Italian 737MCP etc they could use the SDK to make their products compatible with PMDG. I don't believe that it will be easy and cheap to use it a cokpit user. Maybe Dirk could have a conversation with PMDG (Lefteris maybe?) to see if there is a way to include the SDK in FsBus and the FsBus's users to buy from PMDG something like Fsuipc key to unlock this future. Just an idea.At the end, the SDK (i think) it will be also just for the MCP and the EFIS. All the other systems, like Overhead etc they are not included at the moment!Wishes for a Happy New Year!!Eddie ArmaosAthens-Greece
