VGA interace to LCD screens

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, I know this has been asked before, but I thought I'd throw it out in case anyone's come across an answer...Has anyone ever found a wa to connect a regular VGA card's output to a stand-alone LCD scren, such as a pulled one from a laptop? Dead laptops, or just the screens for them, are dirt cheap, and would be perfect for built-in screens if someone could just figure out a way to drive them.Richard

Those cost lots though which makes the whole idea a no-go usually.Tuomas

yeah, I know that's been the problem. If I could figure out where on the board the VGA card ends and the screen control starts, could do something with dead/obsolete laptops, but I don't have the tech skills to do that :-(Richard

I once saw a site where this fellow designed a homebuilt controler for old laptop screens. However, he had only tested it on one manufacturer's screens.I looked for the URL in my favorites but can't find it. I guess I didn't save it.
