December 9, 200421 yr Hi Guys,Just bought 25 bourns rotary encoders that work well connected directly to FSBUS or even through REDEC. Unfortunately while waiting the 6 weeks for them, I changed my mind and decided use IOCards instead of FSBUS and of course they don't work with IOCards the way I want them to.Each encoder is worth $4.80 Australian Dollars and postage is extra. You can check out this link for the Bourns PDF.http://www.meditronik.com.pl/doc/bourns/ecw.pdfPart No. ECW1J-B24-BC002424 Detents per revolution1/4 Cycle per DetentRegards,Brad [email protected], Australia.
December 9, 200421 yr >24 Detents per revolution>1/4 Cycle per Detent????Do you mean00 detent01 detent11 detent10 detent????If so i think they are of no use :(How could you make them work under fsbus?
December 10, 200421 yr The cycle should read "FULL CYCLE" not "1/4 CYCLE".Sorry for the mistake.and for the last question. Yes it is 00/01/11/10.Hope this clears things up.Brad

The IOCards website says it supports phase-shifted rotaries with the rotary encoder module.. is this not true then? Or are those somehow "just a bit different" that they dont work? What kind of rotaries do work then? Just interested, since I rememeber reading it should do phase-shift stuff.//Tuomas
December 11, 200421 yr Hi Tuomas,Nico Kaan did some research on the different kinds of rotary encoder and the information is available at:http://home.planet.nl/~nwkaan/index.htmlFrom what I have read and understood is that there are Full Cycle or 1/4 Cycle per detent Grey Type Encoders. Each system (FSBUS, IOCards or EPIC)is different to what type of encoder it recognises(FSBUS, IOCards or EPIC). Nico explains that the 1/4 Cycle per detent type is the one thats compatable with IOCards. That is if you want to directly connect your Encoder to the Master Card.A full cycle is 00/01/11/10.Please refer to Nico's site for further details. The ones I am selling can connect directly to FSBUS as one of my fellow builders here in Australia has discovered.Hope this info has helped.Kind Regards,Brad Heller.

December 11, 200421 yr Hi guys,>From what I have read and understood is that there are Full>Cycle or 1/4 Cycle per detent Grey Type Encoders... and 1/2 cycle per detent, like the Conrad 605594 I decribed at my site. And yes, only the 1/4 cycle per detent (like the ones from Peter Cos) can be connected directly to IOcards Mastercard.Nicowww.nicokaan.nl
December 11, 200421 yr >.. and 1/2 cycle per detent, like the Conrad 605594 I decribed>at my site.sorry for the typo: it should read 705594Nicowww.nicokaan.nl
December 11, 200421 yr >These would work with the "rotary encoder module" of IOCards>though? Or do you know?Yes they should work, although I have not tried it. But I guess Brad rather uses gray type rotaries with IOcards that can be connected without extra hardware. Makes his system less complex.Nicowww.nicokaan.nl
December 11, 200421 yr Thanks for the confirmation Nico and you are correct. With all the electronic construction and wiring, adding the Encoder card would a create alot more work. I'm going to purchase the ones from FDS that you recommended from your website. For the users of FSBUS, these Encoders that I'm selling are perfect and are at a good price.Regards,Brad Heller.
