FlightSim Manager remote views...

Featured Replies

I'm looking at the options for a multiple PC/multiple monitor setup.Know about WideFS, WideView etc and the various glass cockpit options (PM, Glass FD, Free FD etc).Came across the freeware FlightSim Manager though. I'd heard of it before for it's install/setup management functions but, after downloading it, noticed it has some sort of remote views functionality as well...Has anyone used it for that purpose and what can it do? It seems to suggest guages on client machines as well as views (I think WideView is 'limited' to only views since it uses the slew function)Any comments?

I'm not sure If I understand your need. If I DO understand, and you need to be able to view/control remote computers.... I use this:http://www.realvnc.com/It's free and works fantastic (at least for me). I can set up all my computers using any one one computer. Even through the INTERNET.

From this site: http://www.ranainside.com/software_flightsim_manager.htmlI found in the: Features page"Lan View to allow creating virtual cockpits with multiple monitor support, using networked PCs."However no such info in the users guide. I suggest you download it and try it and let us know ;)

That would take you to the relavant part of the manual - there are about 7 pages of text on LanView mode. Its quite simple to setup, and requires no changes in FS. So as I see it, you don't have anything to lose by trying it out. There is a small problem due to default "Gradual transition in Spot view" by FS - however next release of FSM will have a camera mode which will solve this problem.Hope that helps. for any assistance, please visit the support forum at http://softwares.ranainside.com/

Thanks for the replies, especially to Rana, the author himself!I read through the guide but haven't got my multiple setup installed yet - was just looking at the various options. This looks very tasty. The rest of the program is excellent in it's own right and thoroughly recommended.Rana, as well as client external views, can you have client guage views?Does it perform in the same way as Wide View?

Hi Magic Man,I am not sure how WideView works - I had a look at the manual once, and it looked very confusing.. mainly when it started talking about editing panels.Client Gauge views depends on the aircraft and how well the gauges are written - some default aircraft like cessna 172 works fine... but some other aircraft may not work completely. One thing to keep it mind - its own way data.. so even if you change anything on the client pc, it would not be reflected in server. but if you increase the throttle in server, you would see the throttle moving forward in the client.

Thanks Rana for the "F1-tip". I will check it and try your program. I already have downloaded it and had a look.Since it works on FS2004 it should do some tricks for me that wideview probably would not do. As for spot plane view .. I don't care about that ;) Real pilots sit in cockpits and not "magicaly fly outside their a/c" .. no ? :(
