April 19, 200521 yr I want to do either spaceship one or Learjet the big thing is costI cant find a dedicated program for ss1 and at first I can fly white knight and when I drop ss1 I'll be in thatbutleatjet sits 2 people so I can have a friend with me flying for those long flightsI need advice!
April 19, 200521 yr Well ask most guys they are around $5000 and above so far!! I mean $1000 will cover, switches, interface, throttle, Yokes, panels!! And this is if you make them and you are smart and use some inventive and skills !! Just my 2 cents...Roberto
April 19, 200521 yr So you want a SS1 pit...There's indeed no "good" simulation for that.A suggestion:go with orbiter. They have an addon for SS1, only model tough, you fly it with your joystick. You'd then have to program all the switches/screens/computers/... and interface between the switches in your pit and the switches in the sim. This isn't easy, but I guess most things are hard when building a pit.example: I took 4 months to find the perfect software, now I'm only starting on my panels. I started with all this in June 2004...That's a while ago :)
April 19, 200521 yr -> A Jet liner or space shuttle home simpit is an expensive time consuming hobby.-> 1000$/ -Jerome "In thrust we trust"
April 19, 200521 yr well im 13 but I have a papper route and will jerrybuild it flightsim has really good info on how to do stuff
April 20, 200521 yr I'd recommend starting even easier than a Citation. Make a Cessna 172 or 152 'pit. You should be able to be up and runing with a flyable pit for only a couple of hundred dollars, you'll only need one computer, and you'll have something you can then actualy fly. Nothing will kill the buzz more surely than still having something in the corner of your room six months from now that you can't 'play with' :-)Building the GA pit will give you hands on practice at the skills you'll need to make something more challenging, such as soldering etc. Then, you can start on, say, a Citation and the Cessna will still be there for you to take a break and fly when you get fed up with working on the one that isn't yet flyable. As an added advantage, if the bug REALLY bites, your first real world lessons will probably be in a Cessna 152 or 172 and having hands that know where to find the controls will be a HUGE advantage.Richard
April 20, 200521 yr I was wondering in cessna type stuff how do you build instruments?and where can you get specs. for cockpits?
April 20, 200521 yr I cant afford to build two pits simming isnt my only hobby I've got rocketry and Radio Controlled airplanes as a hobby
April 21, 200521 yr "I was wondering in cessna type stuff how do you build instruments?"Well, there's two ways really. One is to just use a monitor - a flat panel is best - behind a panel with cutouts. The second is to make analogue instruments driven by servo's / steppers etc. Since money is an issue, go to http://www.mikesflightdeck.com and look for his book "Building Simulated Instruments". It gives the details for building analogue instruments from scratch using parts that are dirt cheap.Richard

Plus it is a LOT of work and needs considerable electronics skill to build them.A monitor behind a panel is definitely the easier option to build. Something like my Cessna panel:http://gallery.tigert.com/tigert-albums/ho...t/aab.sized.jpgSure it can contain a "glass cockpit" as well, but the first thing you need to figure out is, which aircraft - I mean, what is available for FS. Also, it needs to be interfaceable - a lot of those payware add-ons cannot be interfaced to electronics because they have custom gauges that do not use the FSUIPC offsets.Anyway, this is a huge topic in general, use the forum search and prepare to take a few months to just plan the whole thing - it will pay off in the end with less rebuilding of things since you will get better ideas along the way.//Tuomas
April 21, 200521 yr I've decided on the Citation X It has a vitural tour of the pit and pictures here http://citationx.cessna.com/avionics.chtml
April 22, 200521 yr witll the moniter projecters work good?and also what should I look for in moniters
April 25, 200521 yr now i'm deciding between extra 300L or Edge 540extra I can find more infoedge is better at hovering but its more of an RC model
