Thanks Bryn, going to try this

Does using a 3rd party mesh increase VAS and slow down performance?
FSGlobal will increase your sim load time by a noticeable manner. Also you will run into elevation issues at some airports either with FSG or FreeMeshX. But the joy of flying over mountainous areas will be unequaled.

After I got my GTX1070 and saw the improvement I decided to do a new build

Would upgrading from Win 7 -> Win 10 make P3D run better?
Is WDDM2.0 support of any benefit for P3D or other DX11 software ? Or does it requires specific updates within P3D engine by LM skunks ?

NO RUNWAY LIGHTS AT AEROSOFT DUBLIN P3D V3
The guy over simmershome.de might make a custom patch for you if asked on their forum. He already published dozens of runway light patch and fixes for many add-ons, unfortunately no EIDW so far.

Upgraded system to a i7 6700k and GTX 1080
Thanks for the report. Can't wait. I already got the 6700k thing ready. But the 1080.... was preordered on 27th May and I am still waiting (Thank you EVGA ). I guess I should just change my mind and get the first FE I find. Ash is your EVGA 1080 a FE ?

Performance Is HALF Of FSX:SE
Make sure Dynamic reflections are off. I'd try first old nvidia driver 353.62 as a starting point. Then try to maximize tesselation slider, then minimize to zero : which one gives you the best FPS reading ? If nothing improves, try disabling volumetric fog. Did FPS improve ?

Fly Tampa Corfu Simply Stunning
FT usually rocks but this one is indeed a masterpiece. With speedtrees support iirc!

NVIDIA's GTX 1080 GPU is twice as fast the Titan X $599 May 27
nooon replied to Silverbird's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcHave been waiting for my preordered 1080 AIB since 27Th May :( Not available until early July or something. Anyone managed to get an AIB ? Anyone tried a FE yet with P3D ?

Grenoble to Annecy, France
Excellent If you like Annecy you can try this interesting IFR practice. Take off from Grenoble LFLS, follow VIRIE route to Annecy ILSZ 04. When reaching ILSZ04 DH, make a go around using the missed approach published on ILSZ 04. When vertical AT NDB, do an ILSY 04 until reaching D1-ANM, then follow the VPT RWY 04. Then land safely on RWY 04 .

Frame drop after passing through clouds
I had good cloud performance increase when commenting the #Define Volumize in cloud.fx before P3D v3.3, but seems this has been removed definitely from the shader code... not sure if it's enabled or disabled by default now..

Prepar3D V3.3.3 Released
Just had a look inside the cloud.fx of P3D 3.3.5 Alongside with many changes, it seems that the #define VOLUMIZE and the according #ifdef VOLUMIZE portion of code has been dropped ? Is this done for improvement listed under release notes ? Improved cloud rendering performance

Advice between curved 34" and UHD ~40"
nooon replied to nooon's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcOnly for GA fly why not, but for tubeliners looks like a big headache. And I am having unstabilized myopia, Im already getting migraines when watching a 3D-movie so I guess I'll stay at the door for now ! + I basically need to find a Oculus or Vive owner near me to give it a try (Im near LFLG, anyone ?) cheers

Advice between curved 34" and UHD ~40"
nooon replied to nooon's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcEhup guys I am up and running with the Iiyama ProLite X4071UHSU-B1 and it's really fantastic. However I have a small issue, Win7 is set to wake the monitor after 15 minutes of inactivity. When trying to get the monitor out of sleep mode, it remains black. I have to manually shut it down with the master power button (near the ATX power cable) and start it again. Anyone has the same screen and problem ? Help needed !! EDIT forgot to mention connected with DisplayPort, and set to DP 1.2 on the monitor.

hows the I7 6700k ?
He's fine. Went from a Core I7-3820 with a GTX760 to an 6700K still with a GTX760 while awaiting the availability of EVGA 1080 FTW on 17th June. He's fine @4.6 1.35v, do not exceed 61°C during burn with its Noctua D15S. I went from ~30fps to ~60fps still with the GTX760 @1920x1200 (terrain shadows disabled). For me worth the investment.

Upgrade from GTX 770 2GB to GTX 1080 - Worth it?
nooon replied to FlyingEngineer's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcTo op; -Run your sim. - Run GPU-Z -Maximize window. - Shift-Z to print FPS. Record number. - Double click windows titlebar to reduce its size. - Record FPS number again. Do that in a broad variety of scenarios (different planes, sceneries, weather). If the FPS number is greater when window is minimized, and if GPU-Z shows GPU at 99% all the time, then yes, you will have a benefit in upgrading. Don't forget the 1080 opens the world to a smooth 1440p and/or 2160p, if you're still at 1080p currently and have budget for a new monitor.
