4 Engined EICAS?

Featured Replies

HiI was using the old FreeFD eicas, however it was really eating my system up and casuing lockups and the other gauges to run at 1FPS etc.....My cockpit is for a 4 engined aircraft, however I cannot find any free EICAS displays? Plenty of free 2engine ones (737 mainly), but nothing for 4 engines???Anyone know of anything? Many thanks(PS, preferably where the program is slow-pc friendly - P2 450mhz, 320mb ram, WinXP etc).

Are you running ECIAS and FS on same machine? If so... then that's what probablly eating your system up causing a low frame rate. Usually most of us cockpit builders run ECIAS and FS on seprate machine.

FS is run on my Athlon XP machine, the instruments on a Pentium 450...The problem is the EICAS from FreeFD (ver 0.61), may just be a buggy early release, but I need to find an alternative really with support for 4engines.What do all the 747 sim guys use? (Project Magenta aside)

Check the topic on OpenGL C++ gauges ?It's open source and the code is available. Why not write your own stuff ?

Thanks mate...havent really got the time to develop my own :(

I considered it the bare minimum horse power. I also had a second video card on it that was a Rage 3D PCI. I put Squawkbox on that monitor. I also had servinfo on that box as well.

I found I had the same problem to start with, 3-4 fps on PFD, ND & EICAS, but not always. Soon discovoured by accident that it only happened when you have full cockpit view on main system. If I pressed 'W' to get rid of all the instruments then my fps went up to around 30 on FreeFD instruments. I am running FreeFD EAHSI and ND on an AMD 800 and the EICAS on a P2 450 now with no problems. As for 4 engine eicas I have never tried using it.Hope this helps you and don't forget to keep an eye on Don's FreeFD site for the new relaese coming soon(ish). The Porcupineaka Simon Webbwww.desktopflying.co.ukVery slowely putting together a generic twin desktop unit.
