Tired of EPICUSB...

Featured Replies

I'll admit it.. I'm tired... Tired of years of EPIC programming, only to have the entire system freeze up on final approach after a 4-hour flight. I have recently developed a keen interest in general aviation aircraft and have already started building a Cirrus SR22 pit. (www.cirrusdesign.com)I am using Simkits gauges, which work flawlessly (No coding!!) and now I need an analog card that is GUI-friendly, NO CODING involved, USB interface, and is somewhat configurable via a software interface. The Cirrus requires 9 analog channels. (Pitch, roll, Rudder, Throttle, Mixture, L/R brakes (x2)I am looking currently at Beta Innovations, or Phidgets. I would love to hear what the simming public has to say concerning this topic....Mind you, I will never get rid of my 777 sim for reasons I cannot go into here, other than I put way too much blood, sweat and beers into it! ;-)Best regards~Ray Sotkiewicz(Disgruntled 777 Driver)

The IOCards USBAxis should be just a 5-axis joystick. Stick in pots, assign to FS. Shouldnt need any coding, AFAIK. Seems like a good price too. You can assign pretty much anything if you have a registered version of FSUIPC.I can hear you, tweaking is fun up to a certain level :) I think the Simkits multi-IO board can do inputs as well, but it costs a fair bit more (thouhg, it can also drive servos and use switches, so it does more than the iocars one..//Tuomas

try 8 axis, 10 bits resolution MJoy 16 from:http://www.mindaugas.com/products/you can even make it youtself or buy it completed from there. And for what I know, Mindaugas is pretty helpfull if you need different breakup for push buttons, switches and encoders.Dan

What happened to the EPIC forum on this board? I am amazed I cannot find any info about EPIC here... :(

Speaking of REALITY:) EPIC... bottom line... No Support from the top. AND... it ain't easy to program.Lot's of easier options are available.I just connected Phidget Interfacit card with PMSystems.....example of programing....DeviceSerial - DIXX - VariableName -2941 DI00 cutoff1 2941 DI01 cutoff2 2941 DI02 cutoff3 2941 DI03 cutoff4 2941 DI04 gen1 MOM 2941 DI05 bustie MOM 2941 DI06 apugen MOM Can't get any simpler then that.

First I just wanted some extra buttons. Plasma v2 from betainovations is good. Then I have build two mjoys and an mjoy16 from the projects on this website http://www.mindaugas.com/. It is great fun to do even for someone without an electronics background. And I have learned a lot from it.Here are some pics

I've been very pleased with my Beta Innovations boards (2x Gammaray 64 and a Cyclotron). If you're tired of programming, Leo's latest software, BIFS, is a breath of fresh air. Support has been outstanding as well.

I have the BetaInnovations Plasma V2 card.. very nice and I am using it for all my analog axis. The software is great, but I wish it talked to FSUIPC directly instead of going through the Game Controller interface. Doing so would make it infinitely more flexible.Nice card though, and I would recommend it to anyone!

I think you converted me, Matt (Wasn't that supposed to be the other way around? :-) )This Fall I will most likely convert my overhead (back) to Phidgits. It's sad to think that I had 64 lights already hooked up with Phidgits and then decided to go the EPIC route. Hindsight is always 20/20.I really want to get back into my 777, but 2 things are preventing me from doing so:1. The Cirrus sim I am building is WAY too much fun right now,2. All that EPIC programming.... UGHSoon though.... soon!
