July 23, 200520 yr I have been building a ERJ 140/145 panel.I am using one computer with two monitors .The CPU is a AMD FX55 with 2024mb of ddr 400 ram getting good results.I was wondering how can you find out what keys make certain things a happen in or too the panel or things that are not listed in the default settings of fs2004. I am using the feel there pic gauges and just sending them to the other monitor.I want to know things like how or what buttons to push to make say the no smoking button gauge react etc...Also, I have been using reality xp jet line 4 gauges but it is more along the lines of a CRJ set up. Most of my set up is goflight moduels (1) GF-T8 (2) GF 166 (1)GF 46 (1)GF P8 (1 )GF RP 48 (1) GF landing gear (1) GF RC peddals.Yoke was ch products but then torn it up and hand carved a yoke to resemeble the ERJ yoke .The throttle was also taken from the Ch product flight yoke and place in a home built housing.I have stayed away from programing anything so far just moding existing products.
July 23, 200520 yr This will get you started,http://dvds4bmx.com/FS9Keyboard.txtRegards,BobShttp://s95171098.onlinehome.us/junk/aopa.jpgSeems the rage to talk about the "size and speed" of each others computer. Beat this if you can for solving novel/unique problem anywhere in the cosmos. ..Have K&E and know how to use it!
July 23, 200520 yr This might be something you can use "Key2Mouse converts configurable keypresses to mouse clicks on the screen. Useful to control mouse-only enabled gauges by keyboard"You find more about it at http://www.wideview.it/Good luck,
July 23, 200520 yr Author Thanks guys for the input! Key2Mouse would be good if I wanted to use a mouse but what I am trying to do is find out all the key comands so I can program or asign the inputs too actual switches on my home built panel.I guess I need some thing like mouse 2 key instead or maybe I thought it was in the panel config file. Like I said I am new to this stuff so its all new to me. Also BOB ,what are or do all the numbers mean ?[KEYBOARD_MAIN]SELECT_1=49,8<-------?SELECT_2=50,8SELECT_3=51,8SELECT_4=52,8
July 23, 200520 yr Key 2 Mouse does what you want, you can program a key to act like you are clicking with the mouse on the screen. You don't use the mouse - your hardware key does what the mouse does
July 23, 200520 yr ah, I had the same question back when I got the list. ;-)PANEL_1=49,9 "49" is a "1" and 9 indicates you hold the shiftkey while pressing the "1" key. Likewise to kill the sound you press "q" which in the list isSOUND_TOGGLE=81,8 "81" is the "q" key unshifted. The remainder of the keys is left as an exercise for the student. ;-)http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...ing_type=searchAnd here is the tiny version of the link.http://tinyurl.com/c76letopic number 250423 if all eelse fails.REQUEST -- show use a picture of the hand-carved yoke. do we have a craftsman among us? Do you carve/paint duck decoys? ;-)Regards,BobShttp://s95171098.onlinehome.us/junk/aopa.jpgSeems the rage to talk about the "size and speed" of each others computer. July 24, 200520 yr Author Well I took your advice and bought Key2mouse ...:-roll.....although I noticed that when you set up a mouse to key config you have to have that panel up with the gauge diplayed in 2d mode in order for the correct action to take place when you want the action to occur is that true or can or is there a way to get past that issue ?What I am trying to get is the action without the panel displayed.Example normal sim fs2004 set action like the brake does not have to have a panel up for the brakes to be applied.I want this same effect for any other normally mouse click item to occur even without a panel or gauge visable is this possible? In my set up I fly in VC mode but the aircraft has no VC visable so all I see is the scenery .I fly this way because I have my eye piont of view set up looking more up and not so much torward the ground as in the 2d mode view. Also I have my gauges and just gauges displayed on the other monitor with out any panel visable so all you see is the gauges or reading on a black back ground.:7
July 24, 200520 yr Ok first up is some basic FS tutorial item:To look a bit more up in 2D view is: ctrl+returnThis makes sure you do not have to go to VC view. Just turn off all your panels and you should be set.Now you're at it, go into the view option menu and set the zoom to 0.50 or 0.55This will give you a much better view and while on the runway a much bigger sence of speed! Takes a little while to get used to for landing but it's much nicer. After doing all these changes save your game and mark as default. Then .. key2mouse only works if the panel is visible. That's handy if you were planing on having the panel up anyway. Else you could show it on displays you got but which you leave off so you don't have to look at them. A waste of hardware ? Yes. But it works. And that's the main point. Then .. other options.First you need to understand that FS got a list of variables. This is the list you can access in the menu in FS. That same list + more is made available to you (thanks to Pete Dowson) for use outside FS.Now, panel makers and specially payware panels often opt not to use some of these variables. That for different reasons. So they use their own. Unless they tell you how to gain access to those, there's no way you can do anything with them.So what are the other options ?1) you can ask the maker of the ERJ panel if he would kindly code key commands straight into the gauges for all those things that are not accessible via the FS menu. Chances they'll do that for you are almost none existing.2) you can write your own software with system logic and link it to FS via fsuipc. Same way as ProjectMagenta does. The success of this option depends on your programing knowledge.3) get enough hardware with logic programmer like IOcards or FSBUS. Then program the logic yourself. That's about it.1 final option might be to ask (or do it yourself) the maker of the ERJ panel to make 1 panel with all klickable areas on it in a table-form. This way you could still use key2mouse and only waste 1 display/output.
