September 4, 200520 yr For those of you that are interested, I am replacing my EPIC overhead circuitry with... of all things, a Hagstrom Keyboard encoder.I'll keep people informed as to my progress. I understand there are a few folks lurking about out there that have tried to address this issue in the past without much success.I've tested a few overhead switches on the HagLP24 with promising results. Ghosting is eliminated by using switching diodes on each switch (Most switch matrices demand them... something that isn't really explained in any of the docs) Also, by using momentary switches instead of pushbutton types, I've pretty much eliminated the problem of the switches being out of sync with the software.More to come... September 7, 200520 yr After all these years, the irony of Mr. EPIC himself "reducing" to my level of emulation is exquisite.. lol! I guess I still need to upgrade to the Hagstrom instead of breaking perfectly good keyboards :-)Kudos on the new system my friend!Roberthttp://777Simulator.com
September 8, 200520 yr How will you interact with the LED then ? As far I know, H.K. Encoder only can send keystrokes ?CiaoMichel
September 22, 200520 yr I'm also using a Hagstrom encoder on my Boeing 727 overhead.I'm using SPDT and DPDT toggles for the signal and indicator lamps. LED's won't cut it on this overhead, but regardless, the indicator lamps are powered on the other side of the switch by a separate power supply.
