October 31, 200520 yr Hi,Has anybody tried to video cockpit CRT monitor screens?Even though I am in the video business, and use hi-end camera's, I cannot avoid the screen flicker generated by crt monitors!!!I understand that it might be something to do with the Htz rating of the screens? If anybody knows of a way of avoiding this problem - I would be most grateful. Maybe there is a device that can be used in conjunction with the camera output and final record feed??Not exactly simming - but I want to make a video of my cockpit INCLUDING moving gauges and outside views?Hope you can help?TONY, Plymouth, U.K.

Various gains tried as well. Maybe there's a boffin out there that can help? After all, flight simmers come from all backgrounds? Here's hoping. TONY.
October 31, 200520 yr Hi,You may trying play with the monitor's refresh rate. Maybe 50 or 60 Hz be in sync with the camera's ccd. I have never used a direct to monitor shoot but only Video out to a DV camera. This technique has great quality, but I understand that Home Cockpit movie needs a monitor capture. I think you must leave the camera to the default shutter speed an play with the screen refresh rateThemis(In post production business too) Themis Katakalos Athens - LGAV
October 31, 200520 yr it suprises me that you're in the video business, but do not know anyone other than us to resolve this :sanyway, here's the solution to your problem:The flickering is caused by the sync of the monitor and the camera. They're different, thus flicker. If your camera is PAL, it's filming at 25fps... this means a refreshrate of 50Hz, so put your monitor on this refreshrate. If you're lucky, the phase bar won't be visible :)Or you can try this:http://www.cinematography.net/Pages%20GB/f...%20monitors.htm(utfsm)greets,Toine
November 2, 200520 yr Unfortunately you can't set the refresh rate of a monitor below 60 Hz then I think you can try (if your monitor and video card support it) to set the refresh rate of your monitor to 100 Hz, so if your camera is PAL (50 Hz) 100 Hz is twice of its refresh and you shouldn't see any flicker anymore.Regards,Bob
