January 30, 200620 yr Hi guys,I was looking at the various tutorials and manual at OpenCockpits forumhttp://www.opencockpits.com/modules.php?na...=showpage&pid=8Even then, I don't quite follow some of the simple things that one is expected to know. Can you guys recommend a book or two that would help me unerstand the basics. I am trying start with two things first.1. Connecting switches like on/off of lights in Flight sim for eg. or the ignitition switch with 4 positions. everything, I need to know about it, including the physical board and plastics sheets that I would been etc.2. Panel warning lights using LEDs. Again....the electronics part of it as well as the physical aspect of putting it together like..what board and plastic frame, or how do I get the letters in plastics after I put the led behind it, it would light up etc.I know the electrnic book may not cover the other aspects... but if you can recommend only an electronics books, thats ok too.ThanksMannyThe table of contents on this seems like its goodhttp://www.amazon.com/gp/product/customer-...eviews.start=11 Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
January 31, 200620 yr Manny,I doubt that any single book could answer all the technical questions that surface when one pursues a flight sim project. However, as far as basic questions about electronics, the book you reference (Electronics for Dummies) looks like a reasonable starting place. Mikewww.mikesflightdeck.comwww.mikesflightdeckbooks.com
January 31, 200620 yr Manny,Most creative subjects have been covered on this forum over time. If you just start reading posts from 6 months ago or as far back as you feel up to, most questions (not so much the 'understanding electronics' side), but panels, engraving, lighting, led wiring, interface connections for switches led etc. There is lots and lots of info.I was an electonics beginner. Most of my knowledge has been accumulated here.Good luck.David
