March 23, 200620 yr Hi Guys,Pleased to inform you that I completed my Garmin 500 instrument and it works great. the main problem was the concentric tripple switch for which I chose a mechanical solution. For the time being the GPS is mounted on a 14" CRT, but I intend to change it to a 10.4" LCD. This will also leave more space for the switched. Please see more on how I machined the parts on my web site. Especially how I made the 4 "one way" micro switches and the aluminum gears that drive them http://www.sk-flightsim.com/http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/145628.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/145629.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/145630.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/145631.jpg

March 24, 200620 yr Well done.Bur why do you need the little springs ob the microswitches? They swing out by themselves, if they are not pressed anymore. Why the spring?Norberthttp://home.wanadoo.nl/norbert.bosch
March 24, 200620 yr Norbert,I could not find small "one way" micro switches, so I had to machine them by myself. (Larger "one way" micro switches exist and I use two of them on the flaps mechanism). I found out that the spring incorporated in the micro switch is too weak to hold it against the gear in both clock and counter clock rotations. In order to get the right effect I had to disassemble the wheel from a normal micro switch and replace it with a 7 mm arm that has a 1 mm hole for a spring and a wheel attached to it's end. I could not make this part without a miniature milling machine and a lathe that I bought recently. Please refer to the following 2 pages on my site (GPS and machine tools);http://www.sk-flightsim.com/gps.htmlhttp://www.sk-flightsim.com/tools_and_materials_2.htmlhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/145696.jpg
