help with on/off switch

Featured Replies

Hi everybody!Hopefully somebody will have a good advice for me! Till now I'm using momentary switches for my home cockpit. Since the levelD sdk supports on/off switches I want to implement these in my overhead. But is seems to be a #### of a job to find usefull on/switches,....almost every push switch is a momentary one!Only found these:http://nl.farnell.com/jsp/endecaSearch/par...U=4156390&N=401This is a so-called latching type switch! Can somebody tell me if this will work as an on/off switch?Any other advice? Thanks in advance!Jeroen op den AkkerThe Netherlandshttp://home.hccnet.nl/jwopdenakker/flightsimpagina.html

Yes, they will do.Latching means that the switch is locked into position when pushed keeping the switch closed until you press it again (unlatch it).George DorkofikisAthens, Hellashttp://online.vatsimindicators.net/811520/1704.png

But are the real overhead switches latching? I thought they are momentary, but the status light ("POWER ON") of the switch lights up to show the status?//Tuomas

Without being 100% sure (I'm 90%), the overhead switches are indeed latching. The MCP switches, however, are momentary. That's for the 757/767.George DorkofikisAthens, Hellashttp://online.vatsimindicators.net/811520/1704.png

Hi Guys,George is right. See the FSCONV User Manual, most of the overhead switches are indeed on/off push buttons. They often have two 'lights/annunciators' one for the position of the switch and one for a state message (such as 'press' or 'inop' or 'drive' or ...)Regards,Nicowww.nicokaan.nl1704.png

HiYou might try Digi-Key (www.digikey.com) or mouser. Both have a jillion switches and at reasonable prices.apache290vg

Hi Jeroen,Did you try conrad.nl they seem to have several switches. Or engravity at 737cockpit.com also sell various types of switches selected for cockpit building.
