June 12, 200619 yr Hi guysI am thinking how to make the 777 parking brake. Just using a simple toggle switch is too easy. But unfortenately the handle is more diffucult to make then the 737's.Does anybody has a good idea? I checked all the 777 sites I know of, but nobody has made one yet, AFAIK.RegardsNorberthttp://home.wanadoo.nl/norbert.bosch
June 12, 200619 yr Hallo Norbert,Don't know if the triple 7 and the 767 are different with respect to parking brakes but for your information:This is a 767 parking brake made by Ian Cameron, Tasmania. I guess it's a modified push/pull switch. http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/151109.jpgYou can buy one of these switches at Conrad's.Groeten,Nicowww.nicokaan.nl
June 13, 200619 yr Actually they are the same on the 777 and 767!! yeah Ian is great on making all types of stuff, I
June 13, 200619 yr Author I do not know how the 767 looks but the 777 looks quite different. It is a kind of lever that you have to pull up (in that way it resembles the 737)See here:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/151193.jpg
June 13, 200619 yr Yeah Norbert you are right!! Totally different well I guess same thing as the 737.Regards,Roberto
June 14, 200619 yr Hi,step into toe-brakes, pull parking brake lever, release toe-brakes.the parking brake lever remains in upper pulled position.to release it, simply step into toe-brakes again, and the lever will be released...same as in 747-400...Best from ViennaHans G. June 15, 200619 yr Author Thats the working of the thing Hans( more or less the same in every plane, even the smallest ones). I was more or less looking for advice how to make one. So how to create the lever? I have ideas about the interior mechanisme with a spring.Regards Norbert
June 15, 200619 yr Hi Norbert, well, the mechanism in the 777 consists of lot of pushrods. simpy look at the enclosed drawings...If I had to make this lever, I would try to fold it from approx. 2 mm thick sheet of aluminium. First bend it over a tube, then press the lower end together, and drill a hole. I will keep my parking brake lever with a solenoid in the upper position. Without power on the solenoid, the lever will fall down due to the weight of the pushrod below it.hope this is helpful ...Best from ViennaHans G. June 15, 200619 yr If I understand right that "solenoid" thingy works like an electro-magnet ?In that case, you park your sim, parking brakes are set, you turn off the sim and go to sleep .. next day when restarting the sim the brakes are released ?I'd do it the other way round. Without power the solenoid holds the lever. With power the solenoid releases the lever.Btw, where can we find these solenoids; how "strong" are they and how can they be interfaced ?I'll need some for my power lever quad. (flight range unavailable with flight control lock on and ground range not available during flight) So I'll need 2 at least.
June 15, 200619 yr Anyone knows what a "solenoid" might be called in Dutch ?I'm trying to find some (to get price indication). I need the ones with a core that moves in/out but I can't find any on conrad or such.
June 15, 200619 yr English: solenoid = Dutch: solenoide ...
June 15, 200619 yr Thnx for that.Still can't find any though (in regio Belgium).I was thinking that I might use a servo instead. I got interface cards for those ready available and a servo can push/pull a "lock-bar" in place whenever desired.

I was thinking about rounded aluminium, but that would be difficult to get the curvature in it.About the inside I have an idea with a spring. When ready I will post it here.RegardsNorbert
June 16, 200619 yr Soon I'll be making some drawings of parking brake lever assy for 744. That might be useful when constructing yours. It will be the real thing, so probably you will have to make some simplification and/or modification. If interested, check out http://nippoo.net/747Regards,delcom
June 19, 200619 yr Norbert, I am also working on the 777 Parking Brake lever. I'm taking the approach of the 2mm aluminum tube then splitting and bending it. I'll use a more simple spring and microswitch.Steve
