October 11, 200718 yr Hi!I am working on a small simpit project and I am currently focusing on the throttle. For this I need to find some good handles that are similar to the images attached. Worst case, I may try to use rubber door stoppers, but I would really like to find something better. I will most likely put a push button on the right throttle, to control the air brake.Does anyone have any ideas, where I can find something similar? Thanks!
October 11, 200718 yr Hmmm.. It's quite generic.Looks like the gear change handles that some very old BMX bikes had.We are talking 80's... or earlier.Maybe you could check with shops with bikes spare parts and such.Something similar could be the handle of the throttle for boats.George DorkofikisAthens, Hellashttp://online.vatsimindicators.net/811520/1704.png
October 12, 200718 yr You could carve them out of MDF or other wood ? Then from there on, you could just use them, or make a silicone mold of them and make them out of poly-urethane.You could start from a round cilinder of wood, fix it on a power drill and use sand paper on it while it's rotating to get the right shape.
October 13, 200718 yr Hi Grimmy; Check my own creations here:-http://s118.photobucket.com/albums/o83/pj_3_bucket/Controls/The knobs on the 6-pack are wooden balls that you can get - in several sizes - from a local hobby or craft store. I just cut mine in half, bolted them to the levers and then filled the slot and screw heads, etc - with body filler. The levers were made from the rear bracing straps from a metal shelving rack. It's soft-ish steel, bendable and drills easily.Have fun! i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
October 28, 200718 yr Thanks for the great tips!I think I finally have settled for my initial idea to use door stoppers like the ones on the attached image. The sizes are fairly similiar so I'll just have to modify them a little and try to fit a press button inside one of them. It should work OK.
October 28, 200718 yr Wish I had thought of your solution about 6 years ago when I modified my CH yoke throttle. Just a short extension to the basic arm and two plastic sewing thread spools. The extra length of the arm makes small throttle adjustments a lot easier.Alex Reid CYYJ http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/179485.jpg
