August 4, 200817 yr Hi all,I just wanted to share this with you...A small milestone for my small cockpit. The MCP... After a lot of delays, still not totally finished as I have to find square plastic tube for the korry switches, but.. hey.. it works!!!General view of the plexibox still unpaintedhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/191224.jpgThe heart of the MCP. A single Opencockpits Mastercard and one display card. NAV1/2 will also be drived by this mastercard and oneextra display card (already visible to the far right).http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/191225.jpgFront viewhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/191226.jpgIt works! Thanks to Niko's Lekseecon and a bit of SIOC coding.Sorry for the blurry picture... I was too lazy to set up the tripod! ;-)http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/191227.jpgGeorge DorkofikisAthens, Hellashttp://online.vatsimindicators.net/811520/1704.png
August 5, 200817 yr Very nice work! Opencockpits cards are really good.Is the circuit board with the switches & 7 segment LED`s on it the Opencockpits MCP board or do you make it yourself.CheersJames
August 5, 200817 yr Indeed, Opencockpits cards are very easy to work with.I'm using two custom designed PCBs. The one in front holds the displays and backlighting using SMD LEDs (not ON at the photos), and the one at the rear to hold the rotaries and korry switches.I designed them myself for my needs as I wanted to keep connections as simple as possible and to avoid wiring mess.At the far left you can see another custom PCB which breaks down theother mastercard IDC connector to drive the NAV1 and NAV2 panels (not yet installed). Each will only need to be connected with a single IDE/IDC cable, the same way as the whole MCP is connected to the mastercard.George DorkofikisAthens, Hellashttp://online.vatsimindicators.net/811520/1704.png
August 6, 200817 yr Very smart. That is a good idea to use IDC cables for the connections between modules. I have multi-coloured spaghetti behind my switch panel already and there`s only 24 switches on it! Keep us posted and make sure you pop into http://www.mycockpit.org/forums/ too if you haven`t already.CheersJames
