April 14, 200224 yr Hello. My name is Mahmoud Fadli and I am the CEO of Arabian Airlines. I have come to you today to propose a revolutionary addition to the VA and flight sim world. I am talking about something that has been tried before, but never perfected. I am talking about VA Online Bookings. Virtual travel agencies might seem like nothing but something out of this world, however, isn't a VA just that? Out of this world? A virtual travel agency works like this. A pilot for any VA out there goes to the agency website, and searches for a flight he wants to be a virtual passenger on. He then applies for that flight, and the flight goes on a bulletin board of flights "requested" by virtual passengers. Now, say the flight was UAL205. If a VUAL pilot were to come to the angency website and see that UAL205 has been requested, he can request to fly that flight for VUAL, and the virtual passenger will be notified when the VUAL pilot has requested the flight. Then, depending on how much V$ from VASM The virtual passenger pays, if the flight is reported, he will be credited a fracion of the hours the flight was flown, and the fraction of the hours the passenger is credited will be credited as extra credit for the VUAL pilot. The more Virtual Passengers requesting a Virtual Flight the more extra hours pilots get. This can encourage pilots to fly. However, Arabian Airlines can't do this alone. We need to make a searchable database with many timetables for many VAs. If you are at all interested or have any questions at all, please email me a [email protected] . I know the explanation isn't very good, however, it is all i can come up with at this time. Like i said, if you're at all interested in this idea please email me.Mahmoud FadliCEO Arabian Airlineswww.geocities.com/arabianairlines
April 20, 200224 yr Hey, I think this is a cool idea...but on the same token it would have to be heavily advertised so people can go and request the flights etc, and it would involve alot of cooperation between VA's! but none-the-less and a good ideacheers,
April 20, 200224 yr actually - thinking about it some more, why i think it would work well for a charter va. 2-3 people need to go from a to b and then you use your baron58 or whatever other ga a/c and fly the route!ciao!Brian S Ciao!
April 20, 200224 yr Hi,A very interesting concept and one I can see working. However I feel it should not be run by a Virtual Airline nor any member of an airline. It would have to be run by an indpentent company dedicated to this service, giving a focused and fare company. Perhaps the VASM could offer some advise to anyone thinking about it!!Very interesting and hope learn more about this if it dose kick off.Kindest Regards,Stephen JonesKingdom Virtual Group CEO.www.kingdomva.com
May 27, 200224 yr I was thinking up the same thing.I have a idea in my mind to invent a program called "FlightCast" basically, it's a game linked to FS2002, using FSUIPC, X.Wide.FS and (maybe) Project Magneta. It would comprise of a Virtual Entertainment system, with internet TV stations for a selection. Suggestions are Bloomberg (www.bloomberg.com), CNN, and Windows MediaAlso, a chat function to chat to other pilots. Also, something would have to be comprised for a Window view, maybe using the FS2002 sdk to find code to use FS2002 scenery (the non Micro$oft Type)-----------------------------Mathew McBridehttp://home.iprimus.com.au/mcbridematt/images/logo.star.pngVirtual Ansett Australiahttp://virtual-ansett.dhs.orgAm I with Virtual Ansett? May 27, 200224 yr i like the idea. however apparently the VASM has closed or something. its been down for close to 3 weeks with no comment from the owner. this shouldnt mean this project cant continue. just means the VASM wont be involved. i would deffinitely like to see this project come to light sometime this yearGen. May 28, 200224 yr Hi, I've been working on this, well, a more complex configuration, for the past year or so; more seriously this past month. It should become available to the gp somewhere between late June and mid-July. You will be able to take reservations for just your airline, or coordinate reservations with airlines with whom you codeshare flights. 100% free. =)Thanks, marco
May 30, 200224 yr Recently Arabian Airlines had to drop the Idea due to the recent virus which infected my computer. I don't have much time anymore, and Marco I'm glad you're working on this. It appears that we all have the same, or similar, ideas, which is great :). I wish you the best of luck, and Arabian will support you 100%.Mahmoud FadliCEO Arabian Airlineswww.arabian.ca.tc
May 31, 200224 yr Hey, the VASM server is just down, the VASM did'nt close.Matthias LathouwersVASM BOD, BVI president
June 10, 200223 yr Well, Look, I've opened a VASM-clone:http://snow.prohosting.com/simcorp/.At current this is a manual, but realistic Stockmarket, and I'm working on cgi-binning it
August 26, 200223 yr I think it is a really great idea, and one which I was thinking about also. There is one major problem though. There are no standards for virtual airlines. Not all virtual airlines set costs for their flights. In fact, some virtual airlines don't even have flight schedules! But, anywho,Good luck, it really would be a great idea.
