BRITISH AIRWAYS & BRITISH AIRWAYS VIRTUAL sign agreement 19th July 2002, London Heathrow After almost 2 years of negotiations, the Board of British Airways Virtual is proud to announce that we have signed a formal legal agreement with British Airways which licenses British Airways Virtual to display the British Airways logo and trademark and link to the British Airways homepage. This is a historic agreement because it is believed to be the first time a real world airline has formally recognised its virtual counterpart. Many other virtual airlines have been closed down by their real-life counterparts and this agreement has only been possible because of the professionalism, which has been at the heart of British Airways Virtual since its inception. Our Forum has been of particular interest to British Airways and has been monitored over many months. Your Directors wish to thank all you all for enabling us to complete this agreement. We have been very fortunate to have our own pilot Jonathan Gorse, a British Airways employee, smoothing the way for us within British Airways and without his tireless efforts; we could not have expected to make progress this quickly. Jonathan was kind enough to arrange a meeting at British Airways Headquarters

Well done indeed, and an example for other VAs based on realworld airlines (and those airlines too).AFAIK you are not the first officially endorsed VA though. Air Holland VA (http://www.ahva.homestead.com/) was there before. They're linked to from the Air Holland website at http:/www.airholland.nl and have been for quite a while.Dutchbird VA is also endorsed by the airline I think (don't have a website, they may not be operational yet). These are of course far smaller airlines than BA which is after all a national carrier.Congratulations on a major milestone in VA history, getting approval from a major.

First of all, BAVirtual: congratulations with this achievement. It is again a big step forwards!Next to this I would like to add that a special friend of mine, foundator of KLM Virtual (www.klm-virtual.com) also had agreements with the real KLM. KLM even paid for the webhost and supported the site. Unfortunally due to personal occupations. The founder of KLM Virtual had to quit his activities, but left the site open for visitors.Regards, Ferry
