US Airways - Is there an interest?

Featured Replies

It seems as though there is a missing airline in the VA world... that being US Airways. Sites and USAir VA's have come and gone, but none seem to stay.*Is there an interest in a professionally run US Airways-based VA? If you have an interest, reply or ship over an email ([email protected])... I'm just curious as to how receptive our VA community would be to a US Airways VA. -Greg

check out groups.msn.com/USAirwaysVA and also www.vn7network.com, both are professionally run VA's, I have flown with both and am currently the TPA manager for USAirwaysVA. I am of the mindset that there needs to be consolidation among the VA worls, so i would recommend that you check these two out and register with one of them before launching your own.

is now returning with a 404 Not Found-style message - I was a member of that VA, which also held the www.usairwaysva.com domain. I think Giancarlo is attempting to get it back up and running, but a lack of answers to email plus no way to contact them via the web has cast doubts over the vitality of that VA. All my searches for a US Airways based VA turned up either the above referenced organization, or other defunct VA's. The VN7 group was not on any of the search results (and boy did I search!).Due to this lack of results and the apparent demise of the USAir VA I had a membership in, I began developing a front- and back-end system for a US Airways based VA about a month ago. It is currently functional, but in need of some asthetic improvements. VN7 looks quite interesting, and I'll research them further. I am a current and active member in [link:www.flymeridian.com]Meridian Airlines, and I *REALLY* like their pilot requesting/reporting/logging system. I based my database work heavily on the methods they use. I agree with the consolidation aspect of things, however if a VA doesn't offer the features or management methods you like, it makes little sense to join in. (Not to say VN7 doesn't, I just haven't researched yet). TO be honest, the idea of RUNNING a VA doesn't appeal that much to me. But I am stubborn about how I'd like to fly for one, and if that means running my own, then darnit, I will. :) Thanks for the link, and I'll check them out...(Anyone else with USAirways VA interests, please continue to post!)-Greg

Roger that, Giancarlo is attempting to get the site back up. The problem with the site is that is exceeded its bandwith limit and brian left before he put the site back up. oh well. I agree about the management opinion, if you don't like a management structure, why join? just like why would you work for an employer if you didn't like the company? but, i think that most people's VA's desires are more for being a part of a professionally run organization than flying for a particular VA, not all, but a majority. I also feel that if you really want to get involved with a particular airline, and there exist only minor differences in opinion over the management, then by all mean apply, and try to change it, most va's enjoy input on policy from their pilots, i know I do. since you stated that you really don't have the desire to start and run a VA, then y go thru the trouble? sign up with a new va that needs managers that have ideas and would like to make a pilot friendly VA work, like airtran (www.airtranva.com) for instance (hey gotta plug mine, right?)I hope this helps, If you do decide to start US Airways, let me know, i will be more than happy to assist your efforts, as I have a lot of experience with the real US Airways, and have an affinity for the airline.

I was once a member of a US Airways VA. US Airways does not like virtual airlines using their name. They shut us down and and from what I've seen over the past few years is that they shut down every VA start up using their name and logo. So that might explain why there are no US Airways VA's out there.WilliamP.S. You can try, but fair warning. They will shut you down as soon as they find out about you.

It's very simple guys.Get permission from US Airways ordon't use their logo and name. Just call it US VA, not US Virtual Airways. Don't steal anything from the US Airways site and make the sites look a bit different. Then add some FS screenshots of US Airways planes in all their glory and write some stuff. That's all there is to it.This is how you do it without permission and without getting shut down: www.cpavirtual.orgCathay Pacific Virtual aka CPA VirtualGood luck.
